The Train Derailment Thread

Might as well start a thread like this since this keeps happening every other week now it seems. there have been a whole bunch in Canada in the last year and a bunch more in the US.

This latest one was pretty bad and pretty close being just a few hours downstate right?

63 hurt, 11 critically, 4 confirmed dead as of today.

Train and Space shuttle are the only ways I have never traveled and it was on my list but seeing some of this stuff makes me wonder how much I need to check it off my list.

just for reference from earlier in the year at Lac Megantic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lac-Mégantic_derailment

whole downtown area vapourized without any trace of dozens of bodies.

Holy Fuck!

As important as trains are there’s just something about them and the whole concept that surprises me they don’t fail more often.

North Dakota, a few hours ago:

I hate hearing about shit like this… I’m sure many north Buffalo-ers will agree…

If you’re gonna start a thread about train derailment might as well start some for school shootings & public shootings, there’s so many of those no one from NYSpeed even posts about them anymore, even the one that was 8 miles away from Columbine a few weeks ago

that’s actually not a bad idea but i guess we only really discuss the ones that really trigger a lot of media attention.

there was another Canadian derailment the other day: Heavy rainfall blamed for Burnaby train derailment | CTV News

no one hurt and no negligence to blame so not big news.
