They don't make em like they used to (thankfully)

I think of this video every time I drive the '55 Chevy…

Always good to show the raw data.

More impressive when you realize that miles driven has more than doubled between those two time periods.

Wow even better then. So more cars on the road, more miles driven overall, and less deaths. I would give a  but I would feel like an ass seeing as how we’re talking about people dying.

The vast majority of people here won’t know that feeling - but I’m with you. You become acutely aware of the bitch on the cell phone riding your ass in her Sequoia. Crumple zones in the first 3/4s of the century were your shins.

People die anyways. Its not like we are praising or hoping for more. Shit happens, and nowadays its less likely you will die.

Darwin still has a job to perform…

Ain’t that the truth!

people always praise raw data. What about all the other variables? seat belt laws? how many lives were saved just by adding the shoulder belt? the 50s had lap belts only.
Road improvements? lower speed limits? more police force equaling less asshatery ?

I agree with you. But you’ll go crazy thinking about that stuff.

Someone on TV once was revealing a statistic that some egghead came up with that said there’s less crime in areas that have more trees.

The person on TV proceeded to talk about how planting more trees would be a solution to help get rid of crime!

No, that’s fucking retarded. It’s just that less crime happens in suburban areas where there tends to be more trees. Correlation doesn’t always mean causation. However, for simplicity’s sake raw data is good to look at.

Try this shit in a miata.
