Rolling Stone will be publishing Hunter S. Thompson’s alleged suicide note in the next issue. Here it is, entitled “Football Season is Over”, written four days before his death:

“No More Games. No More Bombs. No More Walking. No More Fun. No More Swimming. 67. That is 17 years past 50. 17 more than I needed or wanted. Boring. I am always bitchy. No Fun – for anybody. 67. You are getting Greedy. Act your old age. Relax – This won’t hurt.”

I dunno… everyone says it’s the real thing, but I doubt this one even more than Kurt Cobain’s.

One of the greatest writers of all time…very eccentric writer and most known for his “drug induced” writing :shaggy: x48574874950385098 He committed suicide some months ago and recently his wife fulfilled his last wishes for his ashes to be put inside some fireworks and be lit over his property in CO, and the company here in Pgh ( name?) that makes fireworks here was contracted to do the job of putting his ashes in the fireworks…

I happened to meet him while I was a manager at Tony Roma’s in Beverly Hills…well I spoke to him but didn’t make a big deal…cause you have to treat those celebs like usual ppl…

but surely you understand Hunter’s undying obsession with firearms. There was really no other way for him to go.

and HST is NOT overrated. Him and Tom Wolfe were HUGE influences on the way writing has progressed. Gonzo journalism > *

kinda like how the Ramones are one of the greatest most influential bands ever, but their music itself wasnt really all that complicated to play.
