Just wanted to know some of your thoughts on intake manifolds. I have been lookin at some like skunk2, Obx, ect. What do you guys think is good. Or have you have any exp with any of them. thanks
have jeff at 1st try make you a log manifold
:slap:
In mildly power setups you cant go wrong with Aebs or skunk.
This manifold is patterned after the popular JDM Type R manifold with some additional refinements. The plenum chamber has been lengthened to provide additional plenum volume when used with a supercharger, turbo or nitrous applications. This reduces starvation of last port runner, a common problem with stock manifolds. Nitrous bosses are located on the underside of the manifold. Available in a highly polished show version as well as a standard satin finish. Features a 65mm inlet.
- New Honda B-series intake manifold makes 20.7 more average hp between 3000 and 8000 rpm!
- Nitrous Bosses on underside of runners
- 65mm diameter inlet to plenum chamber
- Plenum longer and larger than stock
- Least expensive HP manifold available
- All vacuum ports moved to back side
- Areas between runners webbed for appearance and better polished finish
- Available with show polished finish
Prices and Applications:
B16A and B18C5 Satin Finish $ 185 shipped to you
B16A and B18C5 Polish Finish $ 229 shipped to you
I haven’t used one, though I looked into it quite a bit before. The consensus when I’ve asked this question in the past seems to be that unless you have a good reason that you’re maxing out the flow characteristics of your stock manifold (read: boost), it’s not worth the money. In some cases (like the skunk2 mani for the H22) it can actually make less power on your n/a car.
I have a Skunk2 and the fitament sucks. Edelbrock makes a nice manifold.
as the description above previously mentioned, the AEBS unit is a great choice. its basically a slightly better ITR/CTR piece, and the price is right at $160 shipped via ebay.
another viable option is the Blox unit, as its basically an ITR/CTR replica, generally around $190 street price, although i have seen cases where you can get the IM, 68-65mm blox TB, new blox TPS, and new gaskets in a kit for around $350, and thats a friggen steal
Well, unless you have the supporting mods to NEED more flow…there is no point in getting one, it’ll actually drop your torque numbers and lessen the “area under the graph”. You powerband will be shifted UP, meaning peak HP and TQ occurs later in the RPM scale…which sucks balls for a street car, where you spend the majority of your time under 5K. The point here is PACKAGING, everything must work together as a package.
That said, for the p72 head…there is a clear choice. The AEBS is the ONLY aftermarket IM that takes into account the steeply angled intake ports found only in the p72 head. The b16a/b18c5 ports are far more horizontal and the Skunk2/Edelbrock/Obx/Blox all have the horizontal IM runners to match (even for the GSR fitment). AEBS are cheap, fitment can be slightly off sometimes, but nothing too bad.
Like I said though, unless your head can actually use the increase in flow do not waste your time.
With the butterfly plate removed i made 507whp on 30psi on a stock gsr manifold!
some people gut them and claim HP too
I think its worth it especially for the price. You Honda guys get stuff sooo cheap

aebs doesnt make one for my car i looked last night. i was lookin at the skunk2. but might go with the obx. i am turboing my car in about a week.
thats super cheep… avg aftermarket intake mani for a 3sgte runs 700+
Yes they do, you didn’t look in the right place. They are for sale ALL OVER H-T, for something like 165 shipped.
you are right. i found one and bought it. thanks
