Anyone got any opinions on the R1? from 99-up?

sick. i want one badly. id try for the 04+ if you can. one of my best friends had an 03 though and he said he loved it but he wish he wouldve waited a bit longer and just got the 04. being able the lift the front wheel at a flick of the wrist at 100mph would be the most amazing thing ever.
04+ sick. Im gonna snag a 07 R1 in feb/march.
indeed. the 07 should (somehow) be even better. i look the updated bodywork…its not that much different but its an improvement to the bike that was already my favorite. someitmes i look at the money into my ws6 compared to how much i use it and think about selling it to get a used R1 and have some extra cash…might happen, not sure. but i think they are insane bikes…plus i love the sound.
Awsome bikes. I was going to buy an '07 Yesterday, but went with an 07 Ducati 1098 instead. The '07 R1 is absolutely SICK!
I think Im gonna check the 1098 instead too. There aren’t any 07 R1’s or 1098’s around here. Who’d you buy from?
the 1098 is sweet but id take an R1 over it in a second…based on looks and performance per dollar. i say in straight up performance, the 1098 is proby alittle better.

Ahh ok, I thought you had yours somehow already. Alot of guys on the west coast have the R1. Euro cycles is where I planned on calling up. Did you put money down on it yet?
As for the R1, it is sweet, but now Im a little worried about it. A few people are having trouble with the bike stalling out and the throttle being glitchy. Plus the ducati is TITS.

thats kinda odd. i know that yamis have finally switched away from the 5-valve head and everything (and i think theyll do it soon to the yzf mx bikes too) but the R1 engine is very similar to the 06 R6 design, right? i dont think the R6 had any glitches or anything, so i wonder why they would with the 07 R1.
They changed a lot on the new R1. They used some kind of Chip controlled intake. I think they call it YCC-I or something. If they are having problems, that is my guess of where most of the problems are occuring.
ya thats what i mean. but the new R1s motor is basically a carry-over of the technology they brought out last year on the R6, as far as i know (but i could be wrong). if so, that would be weird that they are havin problems on the R1 when i heard of no problems on the R6s last year.
The throttle. Its not cable controlled anymore. The intake just has variable runners, I dont think that is causing the main problems. If anything it IS messing up the mapping of the bike.
The throttle (YCC-T) was on the R6 last year. But who knows.
ya, that suff is all on the 06 R6 and i heard 0 reports of anything bad about that bike…except the thing about the redline not being as far as they claimed. but im sure the R1 is slightly different than the R6, so thats not to say something cant be wrong…just seems unlikely.
all really nice bikes the 04+ are the best but 02-03 is a very nice bike i have one
