WRC Drivers never fail to amaze me. Just another example of how they are the perfect driver, to have to be able to win in any weather condition and on any surface.
We often forget the level of talent that those guys have, not just the world champions like Makkinen, Loeb, Burns, McRae, etc. I bet even the slowest guy in the WRC could make most of those guys look like fools.
To be fair, the touge guys were driving road going wrx’s which may or may not have been running on all season tires (did I hear someone say studded? I’m not sure), vs. a race car being piloted by a driver who knows the machine like the back of his hand. Plus, the touge drivers never to rarely race in messy conditions.
What I’d like to see is a WRC driver go head to head with keiichi tsuchiya (or his man lover Orido) on a touge course of their choice, on dry pavement. I think there is a video out there of Petter racing one of those guys?
Especially considering Zimmer is one of the best on ICE around… he smoked pat richard and some other WRC guys and won the FIA ICE racing championship in Montreal, in his old POS RS.
umm…the japanese did honor tommi maakinenen(sp?) with his own frigging evo edition. several times i believe…He is ridiculous in WRC cars and anyhting else you give him, however, i think zong is right. Give both a dry course, a 500whp poopra, fd or anything else and it would be a lot closer…
WRC cars are insane, and perform 150X better than anyhting else on the road due to good everything being the best of the best. you are truly driving that machine as opposed to being in a 500whp supra that is hard to keep in a straight line.
