Does the ticking sound go away when the engine warms up? Thats very common on LS1s. Bald tires doesnt mean its be beat on, just a lazy owner who never changed them. If the wheel wells are full of rubber then you know it was beat on. And if the interior smells tell the dealership you want the whole car inside and out detailed to get ride of the smell. Once you drive it you will change your mind.
there was def. rubber inside the wheel wells. you could tell the dealership tried cleaning it out, but they did a half ass job of it so i could still see some. im not sure about the ticking going away when it warms up cuz they guy didnt have it running very long. like i said, im going back to drive it on monday or tuesday when the roads are a little cleaner, so we’ll see then. but from what i have seen now, i have my doubts.
it’s a WS6… PPL dont buy them to drive them up and down the street… 99.9% of the time vehicles like that are abused and driven hard, Grandma’s dont buy WS6’s to go get groceries.
there’s still a good amount out there that aren’t beat on. i went through the same shit trying to find my t-bird. you can just feel sometimes if someone beat the hell out of something. then, after a couple of months i found one in perfect shape for a decent price. it’s not a race to get one, it’s winter anyways. hold out until you get what you want as long as you have a good vehicle in the meantime
I’ve seen many Z’s and TAs, not necessarily WS6’s, but “muscle cars” being granny driven by older people. Some people buy the car because they like it. Others buy it knowing its a good starting point. You will find gems out there, but they won’t be a dime a dozen.
You got a point. He’s looking to buy the vehicle off of a dude who had a “Mid-Life Crisis”. Becuase you know all those old divorced guys buy the bad ass vehicle so they can impress the ladies. And they baby the he;; out of their vehicle’s.
ur goin to be modding it anyways, and you can always clean anything up (smell, rubber, stains, etc)…
if the price is right, go for it. remember, you’ll get addicted to the speed, and you’ll be inside that engine sooner or later. thats the way i look at it. As long as it drives solid, the bodies solid, the interiors solid, and the price is right, do it. dont get hooked on that odometer.
How many miles? M6? If the car is still bone stock, there really isn’t too much that could be wrong with it, even if somebody did a couple smoke shows with it they can’t really hurt it. If it’s a good price i would take it. tires can be replaced, you could probably get the dealership to replace them for you, but they will do it on the cheap so just be ware, it might just be better to get yourself a set a drag radials. Don’t let a litte rubber in the wheel wells scare you off.
I was obviously kidding, but the Z/28. Z28, or Z or whatever else you want to call it has every right to be called a Z, in a thread about GM cars…
You shouldn’t take offense everything I said was in jest… it just happened to be true.
Burnouts never hurt RWD Domestics, they are made for that crap.
ok, so i went back to look at the car again and to drive it today. they wouldnt let me drive it because the tires were completely bald and said it was a safety issue, which i can kinda understand. ok fine. what pissed me off is thet said they would put new tires on it when i bought it. so bascailly, i would have to hand over my truck and some cash before evn driving this thing, and buying a car without driving it and taking it to my mechanic to have him give it the once-over just does not sit too well with me.
so anyway, after sitting down and really thinking things through, i have decided that i really need to set my priorities straight and here is the list that i have come up with:
finish buying/installing headers, intake, power programmer, lowering kit, gauges and new stereo in the Dakota R/T
fix up my winter truck (1988 GMC Sierra with 4" lift) and sell that asap once i get the R/T back on the road in the sping
get my friend (who has his dealers license) to take me to an auction so i can get a 98-99 Honda Accord V6 2 door for a winter car/daily driver (beacuse ive come to find that driving an old beat up truck for 5 month out of the year kinda sucks)
get the Dakota R/T completely paid off and modded even more (porb gonna happen in 2 more years)
once the R/T is paid off and i have no more car payment, THEN get the WS6 Trans Am that i want
so based on that list, here is what I have concluded: in roughly 2 and a half years, I will have my Dakota R/T that will be really fast by then AND a WS6 Trans Am, so that i have the best of both worlds. then, i will alos have a pretty nice dail;y driver (the Accord 2 door V6 that i plan on getting). so, i think after all of that, i have my priorities in the right order. as always though, your feedback is really appreciated.
^^ yeah, if they r goin by that philosophy, they r never gonna sell that car cuz no1 in thier right mind would buy a car like that without driving it first
