Hi everyone. So I finally got around to fabbing up a trailer hitch for my Allroad, and I only have some small finishing touches left such as the swing down trailer harness bracket. Its completely optional, but Id like to have it installed and working before I throw the hitch on the car. What im looking for is a ball nose spring plunger. I can find them online all day long, but I cannot seem to locate them locally. Tried home depot and Lowes, as well as Hector’s hardware. Any ideas? The hitch BOM states a part number of MMC 85014A72, but I cannot seem to find anything that directly represents this number. But to give you guys an idea of what this little guy looks like (cant attach pics at the moment). It basically looks like a hollowed out set screw, with a spring inside the cavity, which is pushing up a little ball bearing which acts as a locking mechanism. Like I said. I can find them online, but they are usually only available in bulk, and I only need one.
probably won’t find them locally but mcmaster has them. http://www.mcmaster.com/#ball-plungers/=14n32lv
Thank you very much Travis! I suspect you may be correct. If I had any use for like 30 of them, I wouldn’t have an issue ordering bulk, but McMaster seems to offer them as singles. Well. Time to be nice to purchasing
Just an FYI, my McMaster Carr order I placed Monday at 1pm got delivered today (Tuesday). They ship quick and their closest hub is right in OH.
