Trying to get back into the photo game (Band Promo content)

Its been a long time coming, I’ve really been neglecting photography and I needed a good excuse to get back into it. Not long ago I got the opportunity to do a shoot for a friends band, not having ever done any sort of portraiture or really working with strobes before I was a bit leery of it, but gave it a go anyhow. Needless to say the results where better than I expected. These guys where awesome to work with and so far i have another shoot lined up, and handful more in the making. Heres the set, there a few things id have done differently, but being shoot number one, im not disappointed. Enjoy.

The first one looks a little odd to me… I don’t like how you can see the background, but cant really tell what it is. And the front guy probably should have been more centered. The second one is great, the rest are fairly interesting as well. I like how you edited these, they have a ‘look’ that really works.

Glad to hear it!

nice shots~

I don’t know anything about photography so I just came in to say good luck dude!

SANSONE!!!11!!!1111!!!11!!!

Nice shots Ian. Now stop being too busy for pics of my car. Would it help if I start a band and have band practice in my garage with the car behind us? If yes can it just be me screaming at you to take pics of my car? If also yes come over im having band practice all day.

Thanks

Yeah when we get rad doom metal band to jam in the garage while we wrench.

Love it

Thanks

Nice shots

The photos are great. However, they all have that “faked spontaneity” feel that tons of bands (who they probably sound like) have in their pics.

I feel like every time I see a screamo band’s photos it’s always a “look at how random we are” kind of shoot.

I like everyone (that I know) in the band though.

This makes me want to practice my editing again. I need to get back out shooting. Good stuff
