Well I think its time to try and get rid of this thing. It started off as something I wanted to do to a really high potential, but now would like to get something I could drive year round. I’m not really looking for a second car right now and would rather sell this and have one car.
I do NOT need to sell this but I’d rather sell it and move on.
This car is very clean. It was stored every winter since the car was bought. (what I was told from the previous owner) The car only has paint bubbling in one area, which is the passenger side rocker. The car has been painted once by the previous owner.
Over the winter I started gathering parts for the swap. I chose the CA18 for my personal reasons. It is a great motor. I know some fanboys who will say the CA sucks but thats just false information.
When I got the motor I tore it down. It received a new oil pump, water pump, timing belt, head gasket and all new seals. The motor currently has about 750 miles on it since its been installed. Right now the motor has Royal Purple in it and the transmission has Redline MT-90. The motor runs perfect. I think its a bit rich, but I don’t have a wideband to tell if thats true or not. It will occasionally stumble at idle, which is a primary reason for thinking its running rich. The car pulls -18 inHg at idle.
The car does not have the back half of the interior. In part for weight reduction and now the battery is relocated back there. I do have the back half of the interior still and can go with the car if its wanted.
Hey man, I know you’ve been shitted on pretty frequently regarding this ( maybe even by me ), however in the end it does look good and I wish you the best in selling it.
Because of all the hard work you put into it, I hope you really review your circumstances and everything surrounding the vehicle, as you may feel shitty once it’s gone. Next summer it’s feasible that you’d want it back. Selling your first real “sports car” is always hard to do, as just like with your first lay, there are always underlying feelings associated with it.
I know, and I’ve been doing a lot of serious thinking. I have some credit card debt from this thing that I’d like to pay off and I’d like to move in to a better platform.
Yeah, I guess it depends on where your interest lie.
If selling this car wipes out your debt, that’s great and you’ll be better off financially.
If you are selling to pay off some credit card debt, following by taking out a huge auto loan, well I’m not so sure I get it.
Maybe a better option would be to take out a personal loan from a credit union at a much lower APR then that of your credit cards… and pay off the credit cards. You’ll be saving some money. Then maybe start saving for an evo and sell the car when you are prepared to buy something else.
People’s aspirations change all the time… you might find that after you’ve saved a few Gs you no longer want an evo, and instead regret selling your 240. :gotme:
Oh well, good luck!
What kind of racing? Just don’t forget all racing is expensive if you want to be competitive. Tires don’t come cheap, neither are appropriate brakes, etc.
Although I’m personally attached to an EVO, so it is a pretty fun car to be interested in buying
