It wasn’t UBRF persay, Just as any forum that gets big, there will be people you like, and tools you don’t.
UBRF was a great idea… and I love it for the people I’ve met through it.
I think a more active campaign must be set on making this forum less local, and more statewide… I think then we can really begin to grow, not only in numbers but in content.
I ultimately left UBRF because I hated the bickering, wether or not it still continues I don’t know.
I still hate how people don’t act the same in person that they do on the board… but that shit will never change no matter what the URL is.

The problem with the .COM situation was the blatent copying of the domain name. I’d be upset if someone bought PumiceT.org or PumiceT.net, and I’d feel stupid for not paying the small fee to avoid the situation, but what could I do about it? Nothing.
I think UBRF.org just assumed no one would ever do it. And their whole “we’re a non-profit organization” line of BS caused them to feel as though they couldn’t own the .COM (which is completely assinine). They could have been making money for so long, but for some completely unknown reason, they’ve always insisted that they can’t make money off the site. (I don’t think they realize that people who WORK for a non-profit orgnization are able to make lots of money, as long as the organization reinvests its income into its cause.)
I didn’t have much reason to dislike them, but the idea of running a local forum which could be anywhere near as popular was a very tempting thing. I was on board to do the graphics, and I recall a few of us trying to get Clark to change the name. Simply using UBRF.com as a redirect to the REAL domain would have made more sense. But I think he wanted to spite the .org by using their same name. :gotme:

Funny cause I just had my fallout about paying UBRF. Now they are Down for not paying! LMFAO

Well UBRF is back up now, so all the speculation and drama can end now. Those of you that love UBRF can head back over there now. Crisis averted.
