Used Car Prices Really Are Up

I couldn’t sell two legit auto 4 bangers on CL below KBB :frowning:

Sebring LXi & a Neon base model

They got eventually got stripped/parted and tossed in the crusher.

I wonder what I could get for my sti? It’s a 4 cylinder

Well, at least $2.5k towards a new Impala or Cruze!

Well I’m not wasting any time getting over there. I don’t want to pass up a deal like that

The problem with low ford inventory goes back a bit more than you could predict. The taurus, and explorer are made on the same line and part suppliers for both vehicles cannot keep up with production. There is a gentleman on shoforum that works at a assembly plant and on 2/22 they were 88K orders behind. The new models are hot sellers and they cannot be built fast enough to keep up with demand. I guess high demand on your product is a good thing. I know members on the forum get very impatient when they order their new SHO’s and have to wait a very long time to take delivery.

I dont see gas going back down unless the economy down turns again, its never a good time to buy a vehicle that gets terrible mileage for its class

A friend of mine just had his parked civic totaled in the city. The police were called, report was filed, ect. He’s getting a good sized check from the insurance company bc the price of 10 year old civics have really jumped the past few months, but the real challenge will be finding a suitable replacement

I should have factored in a big difference in demographic. This part of the world does not like the Taurus and the local dealer here has a fair bit of Fiesta’s in stock along with the new Focus. It’s a good time to make some money if you want to buy new and resell with limited supply as you mention above. The same could be said for the FJ Cruiser which is hard to come by in this area and I also know for a fact that a standard transmission Matrix w/ convenience has to be special order.

Real interesting time in the automotive worlds right now!

I think that my original statement was misleading. We are not overcharging anyone. The focus my customer bought was the titanium version, that had sync, mytouch, park assist, etc. etc. etc. The price was 27k on it’s own after the rebate. She bought that loaded version because she was unable to find the stripped down version she originally planned on. Also i sold 5 cars this week. 2 new cars and 3 trucks (all 2008 f-150’s) . I still sell as many trucks as cars these days.
