UNIONTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA
A man who claimed to be pregnant is in jail after allegedly kicking a police officer in the stomach, Uniontown police said.
Jonathan Ray Randolph, 22, of Uniontown is charged by city police with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.
Randolph was taken into custody 9:35 a.m. Sunday on Walnut Street after he refused to stop yelling and using profanities, according to a criminal complaint. Randolph was outside 84 Walnut St., where officers had gone to investigate a report of a disturbance.
According to a police report, Randolph could not be handcuffed when he was placed in the rear of a patrol car because his right arm was in a sling. Police told Randolph to behave, according to the report, but Randolph allegedly punched the car’s rear window as he was being driven away.
Police stopped the car, forcibly removed Randolph from the car, placed him on his stomach and put him in handcuffs. Randolph shouted obscenities and resisted, according to the report.
“While police were handcuffing Randolph, he continued to yell and scream, using profanity,” the report said. "While he was on his stomach, he yelled that ‘he was pregnant and to get off him.’ "
Once Randolph was in handcuffs, police were placing him back in the patrol car when Randolph allegedly leaned over the seat and used both feet to kick Officer Matthew Painter in the stomach, the criminal complaint said.
Randolph was arraigned before Uniontown District Judge Michael Metros and placed in the Fayette County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond. He faces a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. today before Metros.
