vague computer question (PCI slot issue) - solved!

sorry, didn’t know how to sum it up for the topic title

my motherboard has a PCI-express slot and 2 PCI slots.
my PCI-express video card is huge and creeps over onto one of the PCI slots leaving me with one good PCI slot.
is there anything i can do to get a card into the partly-blocked one? are their splitters or adaptors or extensions for either PCI or PCI-express so i could get one card out of the way a bit? i would rather not move the PCI-express since i don’t know if there is any room for it somewhere else.

if none of that works ill have to toss my TV Tuner card… any recommendations for USB or Firewire TV Tuner cards so i can watch/record cable TV?

thanks!

I don’t think there is any adapters like that, because if you move a card over it won’t line up with the slot in the case…

what is in the open pci slot?

nothing is in the open PCI slot… it’s open… i couldn’t forcefit anything in there (i didn’t try though) i just know from reviews and a quick look that it won’t fit.

the used PCI slot has a firewire card cuz the darn motherboard didn’t come with it.

i don’t care if it lines up with the case slot, i would love a 6" pci cable adaptor that lets me put the card somewhere else even if i have to snake the card’s rear cables through the back of the case. it doesn’t seem like a tough concept…

No. Get a new motherboard if you need more slots or get another video card that has a smaller footprint.

if i can’t find such a PCI card adaptor doohicky i’ll have to shell out for one of these USB-based tv tuners
