Joe ran a 1:27.23 in his stock Evo with bad brakes
we didnt do too much serious timimg…it was more a fun drive ur car hard day
Yeah, for me it was a shakedown run, unfamiliar car on an unfamiliar track. The car is very loose (which is good, loose = fast) so it takes a longer time to get used to it, but it’s sooo sweet, all the research and advice I did to get it set up, and it all worked out, I don’t have to change a thing. The shock settings which I guessed on were perfect. Let me describe what the car does in a corner, you turn the wheel and the car instantly turn in and the rear end starts to rotate, then all I have to do is stomp on the gas and the car just settles down, no inside wheelspin thanks to only 90hp, the right spring rates, and no front swaybar. Any time you can get on the gas BEFORE the apex in a FWD car, you have a properly set up car.
There were problems with the car that I listed before, and it refuses to start when warm (starts when cold, starts when hot, not when cooled down for an hour or so) I know how to fix it so that should be ok. Also the brakes are not great, still getting not much feel from them and the car is so loud inside it’s hard to tell when there is a lockup. That is something I’m just going to have to get used to.
I went 1:27.2 (w/ pass), xander (w/ pass in jeller’s car), jeller and andre (in my car) were all 1:28
The Maximizer was like 1:29-1:30
It was pretty amazing how hot some of the fast cars brakes were getting, all I had to do was stab them a few times per lap, I could have written a novel on the straights My brakes barely got warm. I think I topped out at about 6000rpm in 4th at the end of the main straight and the straight after that, that’s 92mph, I had to srub off less than 20mph for turn one, and maybe 40 for turn 2. How high were the fast cars getting on the straight?
My car was seeing 100+ at the straight Got scared and always hit the brake early into turn 1. Right before the second turn, i was in mid 3rd gear I got a lot to learn to control my car. Over all I can say that my car handle pretty well No spin out when taking the corner pretty hot. This is my first time at the track and love it so much. Would love to do this kind of event more often.
i hit 120 on the straigh once and didnt do it again, i braked just fine… but that was first lap, didnt wanna get caught with fade
Damn sounds like it was a sweet time. What kind of track is it exactly? I have never been there. The way my car is I would have run out of gas after 2 laps lol.
I had to shift out of 4th in the EVO on the front straight every time :gotme: I think that is 120 ish material? I was even in fifth for a while.
Big  to Pat for letting me take a few laps in his monster 350Z! I can’t explain how awesome that was. I was instantly a HUGE fan of your ride, even more than before.
Another big  for everyone involved in setting this up and letting me be a part of this.
And last but certainly not least, Thanks Jeller, for letting me beat the crap out of your Evo for a few gas tanks!
After a fun day in the sun, I’m certainly looking forward to doing this again, perhaps even go as far as to get my own Evo to beat the shit out of. LOL
X…
Brent_Strong was shooting, camera was set a hair dark, oops. You guys can brighten them up in pshop yourselves. I’m lazy. :uhh:
No problem, hell you drive it better than I do. and yeah, I think you should get your own evo
Jeller
yea i was definately loving the performance of the evo. I could see myself getting one
I’d def put superblue and some pads on there though…
from the video that track looks pretty phat.
we showed up at TMP for test and tune the other day before out big niagara meet and they wouldnt let us in for various reasons but advised me that they would cut me a deal on a track day in the near future… looking forward to it.
we were at dunnville that day on the track but that one looks faster
seriously, I could have shaved 2 seconds if I had prepared enough to get pads & fluid
