Wow. It would be kinda nice to see the viper go to such a small company. It would be really interesting to see that they do with it.
I thought I read somewhere yesterday that the plant was not sold as no bid met the asking price. Would be a shame for this car to just die out.
Holy hot wheels car.
Take the 5.5 million you assholes. You’re bankrupt, living on taxpayer money and probably won’t have the money to spend on a Viper type car for decades. If you ever reach that level of prosperity you can design a new car and give it a new name.

Fiat got it
DETROIT – Chrysler Group LLC has resumed production at its first factory since emerging from bankruptcy last week: a Detroit plant that makes the low-volume Dodge Viper sports car.
The re-opening brings some life to the Conner Avenue plant, which Chrysler has been unable to sell. The company has built only 61 cars there this year, and former CEO Robert Nardelli said in bankruptcy court documents last month that the business has drawn limited interest from potential buyers.
Chrysler shut its assembly operations after filing for bankruptcy on April 30. Executives have said most plants would resume production by the end of June.
“At this time, we cannot give exact timing in regards to the start of production at our other manufacturing facilities,” the automaker, now controlled by Italy’s Fiat S.p.A., said in a statement today.
The plants initially will resume production of 2009 models and then switch to 2010 production after the normal summer shutdown in July.
Isn’t a viper around 80-90k? For that much money, you could get a GTR and still be pretty fast? I mean I think the viper is one hell of a sexy car, but overall performance wise, it just doesn’t seem like a great buy. It is a really cool car though.
lol, where did that post of the month thread go.
ugh :picard:
Can we be friends?
I’m sorry, it seem that I have said something that every deems to be pretty stupid. I know I am comparing two different cars, an import and a muscle car, but I don’t think anything I said is incorrect.
I was going off of reported 0-60 and 1/4 times for both car. A new Dodge Viper is 80-90K depending on trim with the following numbers:
* 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h): 3.4 sec
* 0–100 mph (0–160 km/h): 7.6 sec
* quarter mile: 11.6 sec @ 126 mph (203 km/h)
* top speed: 202 mph (325 km/h)
* slalom: 74.2 mph (119 km/h)+
* skidpad average acceleration: 1.06 g (10.4 m/s²)
* 100–0 mph (160–0 km/h): 270 ft (82 m)
A 2009 Nissan GT-R cost around 70-80K range with the following numbers:
* 0–60 mph (0–97 km/h): 3.2-3.5 sec
* 0–100 mph (0–160 km/h): 7.6 sec
* quarter mile: 11.5 sec @ 120 mph (200 km/h)
* top speed: 192 mph (311 km/h)
* skidpad average acceleration: 0.96g
If I am just missing the point entirely, then please point me to the error in my assumptions. I am sorry if I offended anyone or come off as stupid and uniform. I was asking a serious question and it seems that people are not very welcoming to new comers around here. I’ll try and keep my opinions to myself from now on.
viper doesnt need crazy maintenance like a GTR, its better looking, RWD, less weight, better track car, did i mention it gives me a boner, higher top speed, 4 more cylinders = more potential, did i also mention it gives me a boner
ive been looking for a 98 gts smashed from adesa for around 15k, no luck yet
6 more MPH in the quarter mile is a pretty decent acceleration increase.
