Best: Taking the road less traveled with both platform and modifications.
Worst: See above. It hasnt been too bad really. Granted I have close to zero aftermarket and it can frustrating at times, but it forces my creative hand and Ive learned A LOT in the last 10+ years.
Other Worst: Leaving my damn near perfect E36 in Germany. Last I heard its sitting in a junkyard outside of Wurzburg…sorry ol buddy:’(
worst : buying my first car 2000 deville and not doing a car fax or internet resarch to know that 00-03s have headgasjet problems and then having a headgasket go and having to spend 3500 to have it fixed .
best: 99 formula, fun and has some speed in it , having ac in a fun car again ,and having a manual trans .
Yeah my friend pretty much told me the same thing once we noticed the clear chipping/cracking on the front bumper.
Oh well, I’ll get it resprayed if I add the OEM aero kit or I’ll swap the bumper out completely for the 08+ bumper. Haven’t decided yet, but it’ll get fixed properly eventually.
Best decision was seeking out a clean stock wrx and keeping it that way. Drove all over the northeast saw a lot of cool places and met a lot of great people in the last year. I’m glad I didn’t get sucked into modifying it, leaving plenty of money to properly maintain and gas up whenever I need and really drive and enjoy the car.
buying a certified pre-owned car thats good on gas and reliable
did not want to buy someone elses headache, did not want to buy anything with any serious modification potential or pre-modded that I’d end up dumping money into, did not want to have to worry about fixing shit all the time, wanted something nice I could be proud of even if it does look like a midget mini-van.
best thing I ever did to put the want for something fun/fast and cool off to the side and think with my brain what would be best for me in the long run. Something I liked, could afford without thinking twice about it and would not let me down
Best: Calling dibs on a $1500 Syclone in Maryland. Was on the road withing an hour with a trailer, a battery and $1500 cash. I was half expecting it to be a scam when I got there. Put in a battery, started it up and drove it on the trailer. Shined it up and a few months later sold it for $6500. Also got a grand worth of parts with it.
I also bought my other Syclone locally for $6500 and sold it a year later for $9500. I Did put a couple thousand into it though.
I bought a 92 e36 325i when I was in college for 2 grand that needed new suspension. The guy gave me a shitton of aftermarket and OEM parts which I sold for 5000 and then replaced the suspension for 1000. A year later I sold the car for 3500
The Tacoma is runner up, that thing has barely dropped at all in value the last two and a half years.
