We just sold a 2012 Challenger to a guy in Australia and it made me wonder. What is the farthest place you bought something from and had it sent to you here?
If anyone is curious we send cars to Germany, France, Iceland and Bahrain/Dubai about one or two times a year.
A couple years ago when I first started selling RV’s, I sold a pop up to a guy in Texas while I was working here in Buffalo. The pop up was built in Indiana. He could have bought it from his local dealer for the same $$$, but I gave him better service over the phone/internet than his local dealer did in person. He also drove out to my Iowa store to pick it up.
Bought my GTO in Wilmington, NC. Not like having it shipped sight unseen but I did take a one way flight down there to get it so backing out of the deal would have sucked. Before that my farthest was Troy, MI for the Expedition and before that just the other side of Cleveland, OH for the Fiero. The pattern was getting farther and farther but my most recent purchase we bought he Murano in Lockport.
Motor that’s going into my Firebird to get her running again. Bought from FL on just pictures; shipped here to SLC.
Starting to look at trucks now, so that’s probably going to be the next thing, not sure how far I’m going to go for that though; depends on where/if I can find what I want for the price I want.
I own a few shares of a decent sized soccer club in London lol. Didn’t have to go there for the purchase or anything but the transaction was done through a private English based exchange making it slightly difficult. Aside from that just a bunch of car purchases within 1000 miles.
Bought my current car from Miami, flew down and drove her back. I’ve done this a few times, Integra from VA, my old SI from PA and my last bike from PA as well.
I bought my car in Virginia. I saw pictures on AutoTrader, made an offer over the phone and drove down a few days later. My dad just recently bought a 2007 550i sight unseen from Oregon and had it shipped here. So far so good!
