What would you do in these two situations?

Three and one half months ago I went out and purchased a couple nice sets of dress shoes from Macy’s. Now I’m really no baller or anything but I spent about ~$125 per set of shoes, figuring they would last me a while. These shoes are only used to and from the office or for nice events such as a nice dinner with the fiancée. I purchased one brown set and one black set, both slightly different styles. The brown set still look new, wonderful. The black set on the other hand, have parts of the leather which have lost color, spots in the sole which are extremely wore out, and even chunks of the sole missing.

Should I:

  1. Go to Macy’s and complain, hoping to get a replacement pair of the same shoes. Possibly failing in another 3.5 months?

  2. Go to Macy’s and complain and request a credit towards a different set of black shoes.

  3. Chalk it up as a learning experience and don’t buy shoes from Macy’s again.

  4. Watermelon

Update: This evening I went in and talked to the manager in Macy’s shoe department and they gave me a total refund with no receipt or box. But since I wore the shoes there I needed something else, and asked the manager what sort of cheap shoes they had. He gave me a set of Alfanis for $15 flat. Awesome!

I purchased a set of fog lights and brackets for my M3 from Bimmer forums. They were used, but like new. The for sale add said the condition was “Like new, with not problems what so ever.”

Ok perfect. When I get them in the mail the passenger bracket is broken, and it clearly had been for some time because the crack was dirty. After I go and install them, the one bulb is out. Ok no big deal I buy a new set of bulbs, and consider it as buying a used product.

I send him and email, asking for $15 so I can buy a new bracket. That is a huge reason why I purchased them in the first place. (As mine was busted.) I did not ask for any of the $25+ I paid for new bulbs.

He sent me a pm saying he didn’t want to give me any money, but I could return them if I’d like to. They are already on my car and I told him that.

Should I:

  1. Just cancel the entire paypal transfer? Hey he should have been honest with me and keep the lights.

  2. Cancel the paypal, and if it goes through send him the amount minus $15.

  3. Suck it up as buyers beware.

  4. Machete
  1. 1 or 2 depending if you like the shoes

  2. 2 shady sellers can go fuck themselves, but dont stoop to his level

Did you really misspell Macy’s that many times? Or is this a different store?

I like the watermelon machete idea only cuz it’s been awhile since I’ve had either.

As for a serious answer per your closely related topics of shoes and foglights, I think you should return and complain the shoes for credit and cancel the paypal.

  1. They are past any type of warranty I assume. I would probably right them and the manufacture a letter about my disapproval of their poor product for such a premium price. If your lucky they might send you a coupon or reimbursement. Hopefully they will fix the product in the future.

2.) Even if you win the paypal claim, you have to send back the purchased product in the same condition you received it. You are also required to pay shipping. Then when you spend $15 on shipping and he receives them with the new bulbs you just spent $25 on he can dispute the claim and you lose a lot of extra money. Just keep trying to get the money from him.

Good thinking, I shouldn’t stoop to his level!

Yes, apparently my auto spell check auto’ed it to Mace’s over Macy’s for some reason. Didn’t notice.

*Macy’s edit

what is the brand of the shoes

macy’s probably wont do anything because they didn’t make the shoes, i would contact the manufacturer about that problem.

Like these
Kenneth Cole I think

1->3, 2->2

the one thing that I’ve learnt about dress shoes it that it’s best to go cheap or expensive. mid-range tends to be a horrible value point.

x2
but 4.watermelon is deff a option

watermelon, machete

Both situations would piss me off. I don’t foresee much happening with the shoes. I can see it being more of a headache than it’s worth.

The fog lights however, I would tell the guy to pound salt. Return the fogs for a full refund and shit all over his chest. That type of dishonesty pisses me off BIG TIME. I mean if you bought new fogs and your old ones only had a broken bracket, get your damn money back and buy a bracket for your old fogs.

I’d ask nyspeed then do what the smart people say.

And while I was waiting I’d cut up the watermelon with the machete and eat it.

  1. 2+4 (even if they say no, at least you could be enjoying some watermelon)

  2. 2+4 (if he gets upset and comes after you for deducting 15 dollars, at least you have a machete for protection)

Learn your lesson and never buy shoes from Macy’s again. In the future buy something with quality, Kenneth Cole sucks. Go to Bostonian or something if you’re looking in that price range. I would recommend a leather soled shoe so you can take it to a cobbler for repairs.

DSWFTW. id shoot myself dropping that much on shoes.
i would return them for sure, just voice the compliaint they should be alright with an even exchange

Go with the watermellon for the shoes and for the lights…idk about cancelling the paypal. I mean he did say he would take them back, but what i dont get is why would he take them back and lose the sale comnpletely rather then just deduct the 15? Only thing that comes to mind is to try and sell them to someone else. Soooo tough call…i say machete.

Problem with the fog lights are that both my old ones where cracked. So I already installed them and threw out the old ones. Ugh. I hate eating something when I’m not in the wrong.

Fucking lame. Just tear him a new asshole on the forum he’s on and ruin his rep. Other than that try to get him to allow you to pay less to re-coop the parts need to make them “perfect.”
