boots are GREAT for break in. I literally had them broken in on the 2nd day of wearing them. This is my first set of carhartt’s, so I don’t know what kind of life I will get out of them. Hopefully they won’t be anywhere near as bad as a few set of wolverines that I’ve had. Both of those sets did not last even a year on me.
I used to buy shoes at Aldo or similar all the time and they always either fell apart or looked like total ass after less than a year… Even a pair of Steve Madden’s faded in like 6 months… FUU!!
And all the mall shoes are so wide and gay.
I’m a big fan of Saks Fifth Avenue’s private label shoes now. They’re italian made and about 1/4 the price of the Gucci, Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo italian made stuff and are basically the same. Really narrow profiles but none of the gay pointy and angled-up toes… ungh…
This is basically what the last pair i bought was… holding up awesomely.
dan where did you get those? its hard to find fat feet boots. i always blow the inseam out in about 5-6 months. (deal with concrete alot and it just eats away leather.)
I’m getting my 10-year old Doc Maarten’s resoled for Christmas and I am super psyched. They have traversed the streets of Buffalo, Cleveland and Pittsburgh and have more scars than Mickey Rourke. Other than that my Etnies are still holding up, lol
I’ve kind of stuck with Bostonians for a dress shoe for work, but those look like something I would wear. Assuming they aren’t too pricey.
And you guys reminded me that I need a new pair of boots too. Mine are so old that the tops are dry rotting. Are Timberlands worth the money considering that I don’t use them for work?
hill billy store in apollo called “Locust Grove Country Shop”. They offer very reasonable prices, because they buy massive amounts of a certain brand/model when something goes on sale.
They didn’t have very much selection for EEE. EE, meh.
So far the carhartt’s stood up well against the recent river changes. My lock had ~4 feet of water on top of it… treading through all the crap, my feet stayed dry

I’d love to go to a 8" boot… but I’m lazy… I would need the lazy zipper on the side. lol.
Had a pair of these for working out on the ramp they were great. Break in however wasnt very fun but now I have no problems wearing them 16+ hours a day.
the old cocorans were awesome. take a while to break in but fit so well once broken in.; and they never wore out either. best boots IMO but can’t find them anymore. i had a set of flight deck boots that lasted 2-3years everyday use till Green and i burned them in the fire once i was doen with them.
I had Timberlands that lasted like 4 years through mud and snow. they were leather. i finally demolished them, now have some suede ipaths, my hopes arent as high for them, Although they do make some pretty cool denim looking ones.
