What's a semi-interesting DD for 25K?

Who has one of those thingies?

I think either Xander or Jeller has one.

I have one. My office is down the street from you on walden if you want to pick it up the cable sometime. You can just download the software from Ross Tech.

PM being sent.

Awesome car btw.
Only thing I know that is an issue on these is the HPFP can follower. Just from my real life experience.

nice, i am almost tempted to get the mk7 golf R, but afraid of the boy racer stigma

I have a vag-com cable and can do ESP defeat if no one else comes through. FWIW, I’ve had a MKV, Mk6 GTI and a MK6 R, all Stage 2, all with slipping clutches. PP on these cars cannot handle anything reliably over Stage 1 and that’s real life.

Oh stop with that real life experience logic! Ha. Yeah PP doesn’t have the clamping force to hold the TQ, I had to reset mine when I installed a south bend drop in disk to sustain it, just first hand, real life experience.

Jeller has kindly offered me his cable, I need to not be working 18 hour days so I can actually make it happen.

This is the car. OMG Just like every other one. The first place I went was Chipotle.

I just got rid of mine, it was good with the stability control all the way off (through VAG COM)

The tune was well worth it, a few bucks for 100 hp and TQ increase. I did the HPFP to be on the safe side as well. In regard to the clutch, in 6th gear, at low rpms, on a cold day, with the intake in, it would slip a little. However with any of those things not in line, it was fine. Cam fowler was a few bucks and 45 min of your time. I had the United Motorsport tune, it gave me Launch Control and No lift shift too. All in all it was a great car to drive “quickly”. Every time I got behind the wheel I wanted to beat it like it owed me money.

That being said, I got rid of it for a more “mature” car (vw CC), that I could get my sons and their stuff in better. Only word of warning I had is IF you get the tune, expect to buy a lot of tires, I went through 2 sets of snows and a set of allseasons in about 30K miles. That’s kind of a lot in one year.

X…

Let me know hwo disabling the override goes. What a nightmare that is…

I can also disable that for you.

It takes about 3 min. Not sure why you think it’s difficult :gotme:

X…

You misunderstood my wording, and I can see why. My bad.

I’m saying that it’s a ‘nightmare’ that even after turning off TC, the factory system still overrides. That bothers me so much.

I’ve never used a VAG cable, so I can’t speak from experience there, but at least it’s something that can be shut down for good.

Bump.

I just made my last payment on this. I’m 100% debt free.

I paid off the entire 17,300 dollar loan in 52 days. I did some side work and quit unnecessary spending.

Feels good, man.

I still haven’t gotten around to tinkering with the vag-com cable, though.

In other news the car seems fine.

Congrats.

I’m hoping to be in the same boat (debt free, aside from the hosue) by the end of summer. Just in time to get rid of my car and fall into another payment. :frowning:

jeebus, congrats.

Depending on what sort of raises I can wiggle into I hope to have my 125k in student loans paid off in 3-4 years. Payments on those start mid-June so hopefully everything else will be paid off before then.

Knuckle time.
