Anyone know the diff between a jdm p72 and a usdm p72 ecu? Are the fuel curves diff? Will it work better on my usdm motor? I got a jdm one and just woundered the diff. Thanks
the jdm p72 is about half the size. not good if you are going to chip it for what i understand. too hard to work with.
IIRC JDM P72 uses a compact package with stacked boards. Hard to work on due to size and the fact that the chip is installed on the lower board.
I am running a JDM p72 and it has a Neptune board with a Bluetooth transmitter and a USB port…so they aren’t hard to work with at all.
The difference between them (other than physical size diff) is JDM b18c1’s have a slightly higher CR than USDM and fewer of the emissions regulations. THus, the ECU is mapped for those changes. If you are asking because you think you’ll gain something by swapping ECU’s, they you’d be sadly mistaken.
p72’s (US or JDM) are more desirable (hence the slightly inflated prices) than p28’s for chipping due to the fact that they have extra outputs available for whatever tuning software you use. It can come in handy for multiple datalogging tasks coming from different instruments.
and speed limiter in the jdm is ghey
Do you think i should get a usdm ecu again. I want to chip and socket it for crome pro. I get my car out of storage in two weeks and hope to get my turbo and stuff on and tuned before carlisle. This is my first turbo setup and there are so many things running threw my head. I dont want to screw my car up
Just chip whatever you have and be on your way.
i can chip whatever you get @ hybrid so dont worry about that what you have to worry about is the iab controls. on a jdm, the ecu send a +12v signal usdm send grounds, the car will run like shit at the very least hopefully it would not fry anything
