When trading cars with someone, what's involved?

got rejected…?
As in, they told you that you couldn’t register it?

what if this guy and myself gave each other the cars as a gift? no taxes right? he could mysteriously be my long lost brother lol.

i still don’t see why i couldn’t just walk in there with the signed over title and a receipt for a realistic amount of say $500. Then pay the man and be on my way.

If you’re going through the trouble of writing down receipts just print the tax form online and each fill them out for $300 bucks or something.

Exactly. Having just a reciept will not matter, the seller must fill out their portion on the sales tax form. I have bought and sold a vehicle for $1 and no one said a word since I had the proper paperwork.

As in, have the seller fill out Section 6 of the form stating that they are selling a vehicle to you at below fair market value or we will have you pay the amount in taxes for the vehicle at fair market value.

They also claimed the seller’s signature on the bill of sale did not match the seller’s signature on the back of the title. While it wasn’t a perfect match, you could CLEARLY see that the first and last name initials were identical.

I think I honestly would write it for like $300… and as long as it says AS-IS…I dont think they will question it. Its an older car. They dont know the condition of the vehicle. I have never had a problem … Just registered a truck that I am sure is valued at atleast $6500… and the reciept said $1500. And what are they honestly going to make you do?? If they say well the market value is $2000… tell them you dont have enough money on you and go to a diff DMV. I cant see it happening tho.
