I remember in the past quite a few of you discussing stand-up jetskis, so some of you might have some input for me.
I currently have a 1200 slx sit-down ski. I’ve been wanting a stand up for some time now.
I am looking at two options right now, one is a 88 Kawasaki 650sx with a lot of aftermarket, but the hull looks kinda rough. The asking price is $800 b.o.
The other is a 89 Kawasaki 550 completely stock. The hull is in good condition. The price for this one is $650.
Which one would I be better off with. I am on a pretty strict budget. Would it be justified to buy the 650 over the 550? I would have posted on x-h2o but I am still waiting for my account to be verified, and figured that someone here would have some information.
If you wanna get rid of your sit down, let me know. Can I toss a “bitch on the back”? I’m actually serious, I’m looking for a newer yamaha venture 2-up sled as well at the moment.
I also ride stand ups… if you want to pm … www.x-h2o.com . check that site out you will find tons of info. Depending how much you have will determine what you can ride… You could possibly get a 96 -99 yamaha superjet for $2500. My friend bought a 96 for $1600 but needs alot of work … I would stay away from 550 , maybe a 650 but you will realize the power difference from a 650 to a superjet (701). Plus if you want to do tricks and what not … Superjet , If you want to race and handle like a race car Kawasaki SXR
I’ve been looking on x-h2o quite a bit. I’ve been waiting for the past week for my account to get activated. I think I’m going to go with the 650 and upgrade later this summer or next spring. I’m sure I’ll be able to get the majority of my money back when I sell the thing, and maintaining/fixing a 2-stroke will not be a problem for me.
ya the engines are very very simple. i can pull one in about 5-10 mins. The 650 wont be to bad to start to learn on, that was my first ski. I had it for a few months but then went to a 750sx but that ski hated me so now this summer i should be riding a superjet which i cant wait. Just check out the hull make sure no serious crack and nothing major… believe me once you ride the thing you will be fixing the hull all the time… ive done my fair share of damage espically since ive been riding for only two years now… note to self… half back flips will destroy your hull and everything else on your ski lol.
