I currently have both (Jeep and Kawasaki)
But I voted import to domestic (VW to Jeep) for my DD.
Subaru should be counted as domestic if they’re newer maybe. I think it’s hard to really hate on them from a practical/reliable stand point.
went from :
Mazda MPV => Jeep Grand Cherokee 318 => Audi A4 => Toyota MR2 => Mitsubishi Galant VR4 => Honda S2000 => Audi S4
Thinking about a Dodge Ram 2500 TurboDiesel… lol
pos tempo > pos caveler> pos civic > nice jetta > pos taurus > pos accord > pos bmw > to :snky: import
and i havent looked back since
I’m not brand loyal at all. I find a vehicle that fits my needs/budget and that’s what I buy. It happens that the last two have been a Ford and a Pontiac, but I’ll probably replace the Ford (Expedition) with a Nissan (Murano) when it comes time to trade. Like Joe mentioned, the Pontiac is questionably in the domestic column anyway.
The whole, “I only buy XYZ country of origin” thing is laughable to me. If you want to greatly limit your options great for you, but I’d rather pick from the entire market.
from domestic to import and never looking back…
From the Audi S4 to Chevrolet 2500HD. I will have another Audi or BMW again soon, just not as a summer car again.
Acura->Nissan->Toyota but I’ll definitely end up with a domestic at some point.
Some people say the C5//M3 union is unholy, I think it is perfect.
My bike is obviously foreign, always has been, most likely alway will be.
My car is domestic, honestly that could go either way in the near future.
I have always had domestics.
I went from a gm to a ford
I was a long time gbody guy, dirt track cars asphalt cars drag cars ect.
I still have an 86 monte carlo for now, but ive bought some civics over the lasy couple years, Im pretty happy with my EG tho, its been a good car to me.
I go back and forth between import and domestic because both can have great offerings. Some of you really should try out different cars to actually see what you like instead of just owning the same thing all the time and just saying that the other sucks. You’re really missing out on a nice diversity of experiences. IMO you’re not an automotive enthusiast unless you can appreciate it all.
Rx7 —> camaro
The domestic vs import thing is usually because of track records. If one company has always had reliable solid cars for a 100 years, and another company has had a horrible track record but came out with a new car that seems reliable… that’s where brand loyalty comes in and makes sense.
Not to say all domestics are unreliable and all imports are reliable.
1988 LOL. Although I WISH I knew then what I know now and have both. It would be a cool fleet. It was an inexpensive beginner toy though.
Toyota>Honda>Toyota>Toyota>Toyota>Toyota, I still own 4/6.
For work all I drive is Ford, GM, Dodge and they all tried to kill me in some way. Theres something always wrong with them and are in/out of the mechanics on a monthly basis.
Its night/day and I appreciate my cars so much more.
