Who’s the go to guy around here now for car repairs?
08 malibu classic, needs LIM, front struts, steering rack and a whole gaggle of other goodies.
Since Carnut left the game I’ve been pretty lost ;(

One of our vendors here, turbociv, does great work from what I am told…
When did Don stop working on cars?
Super Tire Change Bros: http://www.nyspeed.com/showthread.php?278652-Super-Tire-Change-Bros-General-Repair
edit- Already beat to it, but give them a shot, they do great work for me.
Couple years ago. (3-4?) He made a big post about why he was stopping.
Do these guys charge $85/hr or whatever the average labor rate is?
Shop it’s at now wants about $4-5k to fix everything. @$84.50/hr IIRC.
I’ll post the list later when I pick it up.
edit: nevermind, i read their post.
I’ll message him after I get the list. Thanks guys!
Andy or Ryan Walker.
Andy or Ryan. Also @turbociv they are all at the same place. Iv had him do work on my civic and Bmw. Always have been happy.
PM sent, thanks guys!
Took it in for vibration at 65+ and this is what the service center told me. I’ve been using them since carnut stopped… and they haven’t scammed me that I’ve noticed yet… so I’m inclined to believe them.
Front struts; $750
Front wheel bearings; $575
Front lower control arms; $650
Rear trailing arms; $600
Power Steering rack; $650
Lower Intake manifold; $900
It also has a P0449 code which they didn’t quote, since I told them to only go after vibration issues. That’d be the purge/vent solenoid…
Holy crap! prices seem crazy high.
Good god, these only sell for like $5k and they want to charge you that much to fix it.
I feel like this is similar to the pt cruiser thread on reddit, what unfortunate event bestowed an 08 Malibu on you?
LOL that’s a hysterical list.
Although I specialize in German cars, most of my customers have a second or third vehicle that is American or Japanese. I less frequently find myself working on them, but once people find someone they trust, they usually stick with them. I have worked on a Malibu, Cadillac CTS, Trailblazer, Camry, Carrola, ES300, and an S10 all at the new shop already, we are well equipped to takle them all. So if you don’t mind bringing your Malibu to a Euro specialty shop, I would be happy to work on it.
Marriage.
I’ll post a picture of the writeup when I get home.
it does say on there that “car needs a lot of work” or something along those lines.
It is @ 123k miles, and mostly all original parts. Also it was a former fleet vehicle from what I can tell.
I’m upset because I was just at Dunn on Saturday and they said nothing about any of this. They even did the alignment and mentioned nothing about any control arms. Wouldn’t they have noticed this stuff doing adjustments? I’m going to have to have it realigned after the work is done again.
Maybe all that really isn’t bad? A second opinion is always good.
