Is the Mighty at Sher/Del so fucking busy every day at noon?
It’s fucking ridiculous.
Also, do you guys at Praxair get bonuses or something for running everyday?
It’s fucking 50 degrees out, and guys are jogging in a tshirt/shorts.
I swear, one day I’m not going to see them and run one over with my little douchemobile. Heaven forbid they stop jogging and wait for cars to go by when they have a green light.
I’m not trying to be a dick to Praxair, since they’re a pretty rad company and we buy a shitload of stuff from them… but still.
Maybe you guys need a special jogging path that doesn’t involve crossing roads or driveways. You already have a private road… so what’s so hard about a private jogging path?
Noon? Who would have thought. You show up at 8 and work 4 hours which equals 12PM. Then, by the magic of numbers, you come back at 1 and you have another 4 hours before you leave. What a novel idea.
Praxair also has a health program that gives people extra time at lunch for participating in physical activities. Obviously being at mighty taco every day enough to bitch about the lines, physical health probably isn’t on your priority list.
you sit in a chair. you sit in a chair and press one of 2 (sometimes 3) pedals and it can take you tens, hundreds, thousands of miles (pending it’s maintained).
you sit in a chair and it takes you wherever you want to go. you want to avoid something, you move your hands a few degrees to the left then a few degrees back to the right.
if there’s a car in the other lane, you brake, and go again when it’s safe.
That takes what, maybe .05 of a second.
I realize you’re just joking around, it’s just insane how jaded people have become by the automobile.
By law, cars have to yield to pedestrians.
You’re sitting in a chair in a 3500 lbs steel box.
Actually, I show up at 6:30, leave at 3.
You were close though. Lunch is still at noon, you were correct about that at least!
That’s what I asked, if they gave people perks for jogging/exercise.
and no, I doubt grabbing mighty on a friday every other week or so is going to kill me. There’s plenty of other things I do that will kill me first.
Besides, having to stand around waiting to order for 10 minutes, then waiting another 10 to get the food kind of makes me not want to go.
But then again, when I don’t bring a lunch I don’t have much of a choice.
Do you know how much of a waste eating out every day on lunch is?
Seriously.
6 bucks every day, 30 a week… 120 a month.
Versus bringing a lunch for ~$2 max…
If you leave at 3, take your lunch before 12 and your problem is solved. I don’t take a lunch at 12 just for that reason. I go out to grab something closer to 1 so I am between the massive people going at 12 and going at 1 at Tim Hortons or other fast places.
Cost wise, yes. You go somewhere better than fast food and that number doubles. Going to Olympic/Royal and getting a sandwich and soup or dibellas for a medium sub and drink and you run almost $10 for the meal. Problem I have about bringing a lunch is that I am not at my apartment a lot to store food so if I do want to bring a healthier meal that involves veggies or fruits, it goes bad in a week since I only would bring it for lunch.
Yeah, you know. We’ll just spend our profits on a private jogging path so that you don’t have to press your brake pedal and then your gas pedal.
Oh, and that “private road” is sometimes called a “driveway”. It’s a concept some smart person came up with a long time ago to avoid driving over the grass when going from the main road to the parking lot.
But yeah, they should be stopping at red lights. Safety is so insane around here they could probably get into some sort of shit for crossing against a red. Maybe I’ll suggest that crossing the road be part of next month’s safety meeting.
A jogging path is an investment in the employee’s future. You can even put it in the benefit package. Lots of people would kill for a private jogging path. Maybe make it like a 2 lane biking/rollerblading/jogging path? Or perhaps kick it up a notch and make it a snowmobile path too? Or maybe even a forktruck drag strip… Now that sounds like a good idea. Maybe you can charge for runs like they do at Cruise night @ Dunn Tire. That way you can reap the profits in a year or two.
I thought the signs say it’s a Private road of Praxair’s? Not driveway?
I’ll look tomorrow o.O
Crossing a green is cool if there’s nothing coming and you don’t want your shit to tighten up… not even looking before you cross is another.
Maybe they just think the other person they’re with looked?
I don’t know. Do they get to go on workers comp if they get ran over while on lunch?
Perhaps some running attire should be provided.
I’m skurred that one day I’ll go out on lunch and see a chubby guy jogging in booty shorts.
Boxxa, you must have got there before the lunch rush started then!
