Widescreen Gaming

Just got my new 24" monitor and the native resolution is 1920 x 1200. Unfortunately Battlefield 2 does not seem to want to start. I’ve tried all the shortcut fixes out there and none of them work. Anyone have similar experiences? Any Fixes?

Battlefield 2 doesn’t support wide-screen resolutions… As far as I’ve tried. The only way I know that you can get it wide screen is if your monitor stretches the image like a 4:3 TV show on a 16:9 screen.

you mean like shows the 4:3 resolution and leaves the rest black? I’ve seen people take screen shots of a 1920x1600 resolution.

No, I mean the monitor (or TV) changes the pixel aspect ratio just to fill the screen.

So a pixel that would normally look like this:
Would now look like this: [ ]

Sure, you’ve seen shots from monitors where the game looks wide screen but it’s really just the regular 4:3 game stretched over the screen.

Strangely I’ve managed to play BF2 on My 42" TV. I’ve uninstalled BF2 I’m gonna try a reinstall.

your changing the value in that file right?

I haven’t tried that yet… In game I did notice the 2nd to last resolution they offer was better suited for my 1900x1200.

Congrats on the new purchase… you’re going to be able to lug that to my house right>

Because the TV stretches the image. My Sony Bravia won’t stretch it and keeps the ratio the same, while my brothers Panasonic automatically stretches the image (no need to edit the value files for the game) to fill the screen.

After reinstalling Battlefield 2, I can now get the game to load. The highest video setting BF2 can run is 1600 x 1200. Using the shortcut trick however

+menu 1.15 +widescreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

It did stretch the display, with some distortion.

now u just have to get better at the game.

lol

i kid.
