this past week kept me busy…
wired in e36 window switches
installed an e34 leather ebrake handle
installed new suede shift boots
installed a cup holder
replaced the OBC light bar with upgraded LED
swapped out my 3.73 LSD with a 2.93 LSD
fluid change in the 2.93 with Lucas 75w90
Saturday I also dropped the car off to have AC retrofitted.
tackling the diff swap alone was a nuisance but worth it.
now at 75 mph im turning around 3k rpm instead of 4100rpm.
is that a small case 3.73 that you are taking out? Anything wrong with it?
both are med cases (188 I believe)
nothing is wrong with it except its absurd gearing for a ZF trans
im actually going to give it a quick degrease after work tonight then throw it up on r3v

picked up my car today. had AC retrofitted. LOVING IT.
showed up fashionably late to a late night gtg but just in time to crush a milkshake and win a few things in the worlds longest raffle.

Lol at 34mpg. Correct your speedo and recalculate.
what is the tank 14.5 gallon? 500 miles per tank would be nice.
my speedo is accurate. (tested via gps after i swapped diff’s)
i think the obc is fairly accurate within 2 mpg.
when i drove down from seattle at 4k rpm the obc claimed 22.8 and i calculated 21mpg.
That’s fairly impressive, I never got close to that in my e36.
next to an e36 this car is A LOT smaller so that prob helps

Makes sense. I would see 26-28mpg in my e36 m3, an e30 prob weighs 350 lbs less
Great mods so far. Driving comfort is so easy to overlook in these builds(guilty here) but can be a major difference in how much you enjoy a car.
better rear for highway+AC has to make this feel like a totally diff car as far as usability/comfort goes :tup:

I need to find an obd1 throttle cable plate so I can hook the cruise control back up since I do 90% freeway driving
im also going to grab an m3 engine bay harness cover to clean it up a bit
rather than paying $90 for a fancy voltmeter on r3v I ordered this tiny digital voltmeter for $1.78 (shipped from china?!?!?!)
im going to try and retrofit into the check panel like this
I also ordered a new ambient air temp sensor so my obc doesn’t read -22
other than that im going to get the m-tech 2 steering wheel recovered in suede and prob grab a bmw cca grill badge

so after the first week the new aux fan that was installed quit and thus the once cold air felt like a warm fart getting blown in my face. not stoked.
went back to castro and he mentioned that the part was backordered until sept but I couldn’t go through summer without AC so he just threw a used one in and refunded me the difference.
pretty stand up guy imo.
anyway the AC is now working great again.
I managed to get the cruise control hooked up…helps tremendously with the drive to San Diego weekly
friday I had some free time so I managed to address a slight throttle sticking issue that ive been having, swapped out my m-tech 2 steering wheel with an m-tech 1 wheel im borrowing for a few weeks and also wired in an e36 window lock switch & window switch for my sunroof control.
sat I went to the Pelican Parts C&C…saw awesome stuff… here is the link for pics

then sunday took the pup down to San Diego so I could go to Comic-Con
shes pretty into the A/C
I also picked up a spare hazard switch I am going to experiment putting the volt meter into vs into the check panel.
oh and my m3 harness covers came in but I prob wont get around to installing them for a week or two since im taking a road trip up to Joshua tree and Sequoia national park
