Wood Burner

That’s awesome!!!

is that less expensive than running the normal house heat?

I just started using coal !

18 deg outside, 76 deg inside :boink

1lb anthracite burn per hour =16 to 24K btu’s
10lb load lasts 24 hours, almost 48 with a couple logs throw in here and there.

800lb of hard coal (in 40 lb bags) $115
2.5 cords of split hardwood $225

Now that the outside temps are down consistently I have a pretty good idea of what it’s going to take.

I should be heating 2700 sq ft for under $600 this winter, with a fair amount of wood left over.

i want the tonka!

How much is a bag of coal? I don’t see u saving too much money on ur heating bill with it actually.

i got coal for free this year just had to shovel it into truck and haul it. free heat for wqint er FTW

but coal usually runs about $50-75/ton though. just going from past experience. have been using coal for 8+years now.

A bag of coal is $5.15

Last year kept the house at 68 deg. We used 750 gal of oil…Oil was $2.19/gal

So last year’s heating costs were just over $1600.

Realistically I hoping to be around $500 this year. Another consideration, the house temp will be 74 deg this year!

I love driving I-4, it has to be one of my favorite roads in the country.

I only have a small wood burner, but if I get a good fire going, my oil furance will only fire about three times an evening and my house stays around 73-74 degrees. And my house is an old un insulated home, even though we are working on that problem… :x:

About a year before I moved out my parents started using something similar, but it was a pellet stove. It worked amazing! I wonder how the price compares to coal there? At the time it was cheaper in Ohio then coal.

that thing is pimp!
