I really need the heatshields for the stock exhaust manifolds, is the engine already out?

Ruh Roh Reorge. Putting stock manifolds/crossover pipe and STI uppipe on my TR. Everyone is telling me I “NEED” the heatshields. Is it really gonna help underhood temps by much? The car had this POS ebay manifold / up pipe combo on it now with no shields (previous owner). I mean, they can’t be helping me much now anyway, right?
