im looking to buy a 89-93 240 SE Hatch with minimal if none at all rust or 93+ Coupe, preffered if running and has to be manual… looking to spend under 4000 prefferably but ill see what we can work out… sorry im new i dont really know how to post these kinda things but thanks what im looking for

you cant really have 95ish as 98-94 and 95+ are totally different cars. but for that price you will def find what you want.
and there is no reason to specify a 93+ coupe, they are the same as 89-93 minus the front end and engine, i think in 94 they just made hatches and verts, not sure though exactly.
you need to figure if you are happy having a sohc with an ugly front end or if you are going to swap the motor, if thats the case go for 89+90
if you are going to keep the stock engine and just drive it get the 91-94.
if you are going to boost it the engine doesnt matter bc both sohc and dohc have shown good numbers
if you are buying a 240 from around here it is going to be rotted in the frame rails under the brake booster and at the same spot on the passenger side. the upper frame rails by the struts are going to be rusted. the rear truck floor above the muffler will be rusted.
if you want a manual it cost like 600-700 plus labor (if you cant do it your self) to convert an auto.

i have a number for some kid who might still have a 240 for sale for 400 bucks, its an auto hatch dohc. mildily rusty. he says it runs. needs a tail light, speakers, floor welded where the seat bolts to, and a battery from what i can remember off the top of my head… its 585 590 1579. it wasnt out where i saw it so maybe he had the junk yard pick it up. idk. that was outside of brockport.
for ultimate baller status you want a 95+ but that might be slightly out of your range
my bet would be to buy one out of state and have it shipped. either ebay or some other place. you can tell alot about a car just from pics…
for 4k you can easily find someone who needs money and is selling their sr20det 240sx for cheap. happened to me 2 years ago, kind of.

as far as the 240… im looking to swap the motor anyways with a sr20 or a RB Series i just didnt wanna flatbed it home, and i needed to sell my trans am either first or right away in order to get the swap in… ill deff consider those cars thanks for the help
There is a 91 hatch out by Darien on 77. It is pretty clean, the body is good, definetly has some surface rust underneath but i don’t know if there is any bad rot or holes. But definetly getting a car out of state is a better option for a rust free car. Good Luck

market is kind of shitty around here but you can get a southern car with 0 rust for about the same price anyways.
check out my build thread on here, I got mine from GA the ride down to get it sucked but its so worth it no rust not even surface.
Atleast looking for a shell idc if it has a motor or not jus not alot of surface rust and try to keep the frame rust down, or atleast not humoungus (spelled wrong yes i know) rust spots
