hey guys im looking to buy an electric freon compressor, can be any voltage preferabbly dc, im not looking to buy a 115V compressor from a two ton house aircon unit, just maybe from a portable one or a small one, something not too big
^^^ FYI: using an air conditioning system to chill intake air will not work.
Air conditioners are not efficient enough … you will lose more power then you will gain.
i might have one from a window shaker laying around the shop. ill have a look. but its not going to be dc and will probably be 110. you wont find dc compressors
sven, i am in the cooling/heating business, i can get a coil compatible with any cfm to cool to whatever temp i want and have access to any refrigirant, you gotta stop underestimating people, im NOT gonna run my intake through an air conditionner, even if am using the concept, i will fabricate something proper, first you think i don tknow how turbos/supers work, now this, holy crap man, theres even refridgirant intercoolers out there, look at this one for example http://www.mr2beast.com/intercooler.htm
edit: as for efficency, it all depends on design, theres some systems with 99% efficency
the decline - let me know, if you find it can you tell me the refridgirant type/capacity, the current draw, and the dimensions, all of these might be on the label of the unit
easy i’m just trying to help you out since you admitted yourself you are new to this topic.
I really have a hard time seeing how this would work. Even if it was 100% efficient I don’t think it would work. The added weight and drain on the engine to cool the intake temp even a modest amount would be so great you’d never see that much power back.
Ford has a bit of a similar idea explained here. The difference is that it is using an existing cooling system and it’s only good for short bursts. I think it would be more economical / powerful to just use an NO2 system or the cyrogenic thing pavel pointed out earlier if you were looking a short burst solution.
my goal is to achieve a reliable, linear boost, i am not looking to make mad horsepower just around 200 will do, I am most likely going with a ka-et setup running around 7psi and maybe getting someone to make me a refridgirant-air crossed intercooler
