WTB: Tires 195/55-15

I’d like to purchase a set of 4 tires, size 195/55-15.

Contact me via PM or davidricotta at fastmail dot fm.

why not 205/50/15? same profile, little more width. also cheaper.

My car is low to begin with, and putting mild lowering springs on worked wonders for the handling, at the cost of scraping all the stuff barely cleared before. The extra bit of height on the 55’s is needed lol.

Thanks for the suggestion, though!

and please don’t try “5% difference in aspect ratio is going to cause significant problems”

That 195/50-15 is 8/10 of an inch smaller diameter than the car needs. 195/55-15 are ~23.5" diameter, 195/50-15 are ~22.7" diameter. Too much of a difference for my tastes!

bah, forget it…

it sounds like you may be using stock shocks on lowered car? doesnt control the bounce enough to stop you from bottoming easily?

too bad cuz i have 195/50/ 15s brand new waiting to get bought.

GR-2’s and Eibach Pro-Kit springs. Basically stock shocks. The damping and rebound are fine, I’ve never bottomed out when at speed. It’s the parking lot curbs that are sniffing my front end and muffler right now. The car is just high enough to clear them with the current tires.

I looked at your tires, and I’d be all over those like a fly on honey if they were slightly bigger!

Check my profile to see what I’m driving. 96-00 Elantras are low to begin with, and lowering springs don’t help the scraping situation at all.
