it’s time to put my car under the knife again, and i have no garage space of my own to do so in…
i’m looking for any suggestions on where i can get garage space, heated or not…i could always get my hands on a space heater if needed…
a friend on here that has room and wouldnt mind letting me use it free of charge is ideal, but not very likely or realistic i know…
i will probably need the garage for a month or so, depending on how much help i can recruit working on my car this time around, so any and all suggestions or opinions are welcome
u might be able to use my garage, i can also lend a helping hand. Watcha gotta do? u rebuilding that thing?
EDIT: if u get a space heater that can always be around as long as ur car is then i might be willing to help as i cant work on my car in the cold, i hate it
well the results i get from my leakdown and compression tests will help determine what i’m gonna be doing…
at most, i’m gonna do a rebuild, head work, new pistons/rings, rod bearings, etc…
at least, cleaning/replacing valve lifters, rear main seal, fixing/replacing power steering pump, and new det. sensor wire since i really hate the idea of just bypassing the det. sensor…
a space heater i really dont think i’ll have trouble obtaining at all…and obviously i’d be more than willing to help out with your z…quid pro quo (sp?)
i dont have a z in buffalo. not to mention im done with my head gasket as of winter break when i went home and now im looking to sell it as soon as i re-assemble the interior. i got a civic in the garage now, ill let u know about it soon.
ok so i have a plce big enough to do all the work i need in, and i have it for free as long as i need, and as long as i clean up whatever mess i make…
but i still need some things, such as engine hoist and stand…and i dont NEED a space heater, but it would sure be nice to borrow one that somebody isn’t using…
anybody know where i can find any of these items for rent, borrow, or purchase relatively cheap?
yeah i was planning on calling you and asking soon about it…i was gonna ask which pump you used…but since it’s the TT it’s very convenient and i can just get one of the hicas eliminator kits for like $100 and be done with it…
but the problem is, your weld job may interfere…and i dont know a thing about welding…is there any way i can get rid of the welds you put there, so it’ll be “back to stock” so to speak…and i can then just use one of the hicas eliminator kits?
edit:
and with the hoist, how long can i use it? i’ll be putting in about 20 hours a week on the car, and combined with help from several people i already recruited, i should need it more than 2 weeks or so, but then again…the original prediction for my swap that took 6 months was also 2 weeks lol…
yeah its cool if u need it for a while. At some point(def not 2 weeks), i will be needing to put the motor into the civic, but if u got the motor on the stand, i can come grab it and bring it back to you. I dont mind lending things to ppl on the board, u guys seem trustworthy.
there is a plate that bolts on that has two hoses coming out of it. The hicas eliminator replaces this plate i assume, so there should be no interference. The vanes have also been removed from the rear half of the pump.
my first step though is getting the old engine out of your mom’s still lol…
i think i’m gonna use the space at melissa’s first to tear apart the old engine, just become familiar with it, use it as a practice run as taking it apart, and at the same time extract the valve lifters and valves i may need, and the cam’s i want to switch over…and eric with the black TT wants my lower intake plenum…
there’s really no point in me pulling apart the car and the possibility of depriving myself some quality driving time in it until i have all the parts i need…
i can help u pull that motor apart and familiarize it. i just ripped mine apart not too long ago and i def. have a good understanding of things. lemme know.
for eric, newman, joe (nitroinsane if he decides to pitch in) and anybody else that has told me they are willing to help, i plan on working on the project fridays from 3pm til 6pm, saturdays from noon til 5ish, and sundays from the time i get there (prob between 10am and noon) til about 4ish…
during the week will never work for me, unless i have a day off from school or something…i know spring break is coming up, and i’ll prob use it all working on the car, or working at work to get paid…
if any of those hours work for you, awesome…if other hours work for you, let me know when they are, and i’m sure i can do something to get some free time that matches yours, i’d be insane to turn away any and all forms of help i can get.
saturday will work for me man prolly after 3 though i plan on getting shitfaced friday night. first where r we doing this. second need tools? third need space heater? iam a little bitch when it comes to the cold
