wtf is this ? sr20det... *pics*

hey guys whats this green thing with a knob came with my sr, plugged into stock harness, one line went to egr thing (thing that takes exhaust gases into airbox, other side went to charcoal canister and t’d off to boost gauge line and then tb… anyone know wtf this is ?, hangs off ignitior chip plate, looks stock, stock harness connector on it…

Green Box with Black Knob is for the AIV/EGR system which you probably are not using (no one uses it over here)

The little Soleniod on that Bracket is a “Boost Pressure Sensor” you dont need that either but I wont get into that unless you want me too…

yea there line that goes to the WG actuator has a T in it, and that goes to the little thing that hangs on the ignitor chip plate, goes thruogh it, and the other side goes to airbox-> turbo inlet, this is a boost pressure sensor ?

Correct… and you dont need it, UNLESS you’ve got a re-tuned ECU which has got a “boost raise”. On a SR/CA etc etc the ECU can regulate boost (but only if you have the Boost Pressure Sensor hooked up)

And normally… the ECUs dont get retuned with a (boost raise) as most just use a Manual/Electric Boost Control or for the fact that it’ll only work if you do use the Pressure Sensor (which no one does use)

AND… for your own info or anyone elses… You can use the Boost Sensor as a half assed means to raise your boost by 1psi (you just gotta hooked it up backwards) and instead of hitting 8psi and hold 8psi it’ll spike to 10psi and then fall and sit @ 9psi

yea im at 10 psi and i dont have a boost controller, I was ABOUT to rip this thing out today and reroute directly to WG, but i figured its there for a reason, im keeping it all in place hence my ecu is probably retuned than… thanks! @_@

Or the actuator is just old.
My CA boosted to 14psi with everything hooked up. It wasn’t because the ECU was retuned, it was because the WG arm was seized

if its retuned it would likely say so on the exterior of the ECU. Or open it and find out,
