Yet ANOTHER tornado in WNY

Sunday Tornado Confirmed in Allegany County

Officials have been able to confirm that an EF1 tornadohttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif produced significant damage within an area of general thunderstorm damage across parts of Allegany county on Sunday afternoon. Winds were estimated around 100 mph. A final assessment including results of the survey are expected to be completed and released later Monday afternoon.

There was a tornado warning issued just after 2pm Sunday afternoon for east central Cattaraugus county and northwestern Allegany county. The warning stayed with the severe storm as it moved to the southeast at 40 mph, near Rushford, Black Creek, Scio, and then into the Wellsville area. There was a report from Allegany county officials that a call came into 911 dispatch of a sighting of a tornado in the Rushford area. There have been other reports of widespread damage and also 100 to 200 trees down in a 50 foot wide path in the Black Creek area.
