Driving normally while smashed must not be hip enough for kids these days:
CLAY – Five youths have been injured from a crash in a two-car race that followed an underage drinking party.
State police said the cars were each carrying five people at the time of Saturday’s accident near the town of Clay, north of Syracuse.
Authorities said the vehicles started racing at about 3 a.m.
When one car was hit from behind by the other, both were forced off the road.
One of the cars overturned several times.
The 20-year-old driver was charged with driving while intoxicated.
Police said additional charges are pending against both him and the 19-year-old driver of the other car.
The five occupants of the 20-year-old’s car were taken to Upstate University Hospital.
