YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH This is pretty neat. DON’T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST! It takes less than a minute… Work this out as you read. Be sure you don’t read the bottom until you’ve worked it out!
First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to have chocolate. (more than once but less than 10)
Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)
Add 5. (for Sunday)
Multiply it by 50 (I’ll wait while you get the calculator…)
If you have already had your birthday this year add 1754…If you haven’t, add 1753
Now subtract the four digit year that you were born. You should have a three digit number. The first digit of this was your original number (i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week). The next two numbers are .
YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!)
THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2004) IT WILL EVER WORK, SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.
If x is the number of times you want it a week (“chocolate” as she calls it), then you get the equation:
100x+2004-year born or 100x+2003-year born if you had your birthday
So all the *2 +5 *50 does is set it up so x is times 100 which makes it the first digit in a three digit number. That’s why it has to be >1 & <10. And the 1754 & 1753 is just added to the constant that subtracts from your birth date. Next year they’ll just increment to 1755 & 1754 & say “IT ONLY WORKS FOR 2005!”
This is what happens when you’re waiting for something to run on the computer at work.
