i like anything with the grey shadow. but thats just for looks.

Yea thats what I sorta figured OSP was. Thats kinda funny you have the McKees RX7 to deal with. Every so often around here Sam Strano brings out his national car (the white LS1 camaro) and goes about doing impossible things with it. There are 3 local F-bodys this year (one is KeithO on here) going into SM against the usual assortment of rally cars, mustangs, and swapped civics so that should be fun to watch. Back to the number plates, I like any of the white on red. The grey isn’t bad, but when I view it at a distance it seems to take the edge off the letters and make them a bit harder to read. Only reason I even care about that is because they make a huge deal outta stuff like that locally.

Out here SM is rocked by Vic Sias’s M3. I’m sure you’re familiar w/ that car. And yeah, Strano is amazing. He single-handedly dissproved every myth about stock Fbodies not being able to handle back when he ran FStock. His ESP LS1s are still relatively stock in the grand scheme of things and run scary fast. Gotta respect Sam.

I mostly run series where ppl won’t cry about the word “shit” on my car or a cooler looking, but slightly harder to read number plate. I pretty much avoid San Fran Region SCCA because - they are retardedly uptight: I’m not getting paid to do this shit, in fact I pay to do it so I’m just not going to take myself thaaaaaaaaaaaaat serious - they use shitty venues (think NorthPark Swimming Pool Lot style)- they get huuuuuuuuuuuuge turnouts and only care about $ so they don’t turn ppl aways so you work 2+ hour work groups yet they only give you 3 runs- they all have sandy vaginas

I run a few other SCCA regions out here, along with a local organization: www.americanauto-x.com that was started by a ‘vette AutoXer many many many years ago. They have what is probably THE best venue in the country (Castle Airforce Base in Atwater, CA… extremely good grip, perfectly smooth, and gigantic, we’re talking minute plus courses averaging around 60mph, last course somebody measured out at a bit over a mile and I ran a 61.xxx second lap). Also, they are fuckin’ awesome cool laid back people and the whole weekend feels like hanging out with friends. BBQ every time, drinkin’ as soon as the racin’ stops, everybody crashes at the same hotel so we’z get stupid etc. I <3 AAS.

Funny you mention North Park. They repaved it like 1-2 years ago. And beaverun has a area just for autox, but they also like to sprinkle sand on it for security training. Sand that they don’t always clean off, and their cost to rent keeps going up. Meanwhile North Park is cheap and the lot actaully has good grip now, weird. I can’t complain though, I ran over 30 events last year in the civic. Granted I traveled a little extra to a few, but considering how many months we get snowed on its not too bad. Down in Maryland there is a local Vette/PCA club that put on events at a airport down there that are pretty amazing. They build these huge courses where your taking entire sections in 3rd gear. Also on their 2 day events, one of the members has I think one of the largest collection of private corvettes in the country. So he has a big dinner always back at his place to show off the cars and BS.

Ok try to keep it somewhat on topic. Personally I don’t have a problem with the Shit Show racing. If you were around here the only place I could see it being a problem is North Park, but thats only because there is a playground right at our lot. Beaverun is a little better since its pretty much just racers. So moving my vote I say AA or CC.

When I went to North Park it was pretty bad. The surface wasn’t horrible… but it was bumpy overall. 3COM, Golden Gate Field, Oakland Colusium and a few others out here are pretty much like that but a good bit bigger and I don’t run my car at those venues. You’d nut if you saw the Castle AFB I was talking about though, or the Marina Airport we use too which is similar just about 2/3 the size.

At Castle there’s always a few courses every year where I use 3rd. A few weeks ago there was a long sweeper that I short-shifted into 3rd just before then towards the exit went flat and let the car torque out at around 4k and got half way through a long slalom before I had to lift (I was probably doing ~100 through the slalom). My 2nd gear runs up to 80-something so when I’m in 3rd you know it’s a fast AX.
