z brake clearance?

15 x 6.5 0 offset work meshies

will these clear z brakes?

anyone?

how much of a lip do you have on those wheels? if it’s a lot, it probably won’t clear the z-brakes… if it’s a small lip, they possibly could clear those brakes…

unfortunately, more often than not, old school mesh wheels usually don’t clear z-brakes.

I’ve only seen one set of SSR Formula Mesh wheels that did clear z-brakes and apparently those are really rare.

bout a 3 inch lip

It really dosn’t matter the size and offset of the wheel, it rather depends on the design of the wheel. Yes meshie’s usually dont clear because they have such a Flat face, but you could always try and if it dosnt work then you still have room to run a spacer before you have to start worrying about fender clearance.

yeah i knwo its mostly about spoke design as ive read a billion threads like this.

just wanted to know if anyone tried running mehsies with z brakes and ow they fared.

thanks guys

like I said, there are some meshie that do clear z-brakes… but they are very rare.

matty, the only way is to try it…

measure the distance from the back of the spokes to the face of the mounting pad… if its less than an inch and a half you will have issues. although i dont know what the exact measurement is

alternatively you can measure the distance from the hat of the rotor to the outter most point of the caliper and contrast versus that first calculation…

asking is pointless… you have to do the math

If you have the rotor and caliper, you can set them all together in the wheel and check to see if it hits…(hold the caliper with the rotor centered in it) then you can build up the space between the rotor and inside rim hub face to find out what kind of spacing you need to fit.

I have 16 x 7 +19 Work meshies up front and they do not clear. I set them up this way and found that 15mm would give me about 3-4mm of clearance.
