I had problems about a year ago with my service, started getting almost the same problem you are having… turns out the wire from the pole to the house was in rough shape; the TV signals still worked fine and looked good, but the connection for the HSI sucked. They re-wired my entire house in about 3 hours for free and now I’ve not had a problem since.
