Hey Mike, the TCU is the problem I’m almost 90% sure, I had the same thing go on my sil40 coupe and sil40 hatch but I hardwired all my lights to run off a switch bypassing the TCU. I’m sorry for disrespecting the OP but I have told him numerous times what is it and how to fix it bu he does not heed my advice. FYI Jesse it should be on your driver side near the fuse box.
As for the headlights, I’ve got my money on a blown motor. It could also be electrical, did the previous owner do a proper job with wiring up the headlights for sleepy eyes? (with a toggle switch for height), or was it just “cut the brown wire” shit?
Dude, just do some research and get your hands dirty, it’s an S-chassis, weither it’s uber clean, or rusted out, they all work the same and have the same common issues.
Learn to fix it.
I highly doubt its a blown motor as when Kengi and I worked on this car almost a year ago before Jesse got it, everything was mint and no gay brown wire sleepy eye mod either. Either way though, I am pretty sure it is what I said it is, as when you look at an S chassis, there is only one thing that essentially controls all things electrical besides the fusebox. It controls the wiper speed (if it blows your wipers will only be set on one speed no matter what position the switch is in), it controls the pop up/down action of the lights, controls interior lights, controls rear lights and running lights, controls your dash lights and your radio/radio lights as well. There are some other things that this little box helps to make function properly but I am not 100% sure on the others as these are the symptoms that I had when mine went in BOTH my cars. Take my advice or leave it, but it is either the TCU or the wiring of your car itself.

Bro, we looked on both sides, mine you I only looked on driver side, not the passanger, so im not sure whether he missed it or not. I know what the TCU looks like seen it multiple time in my other two s13’s. So… ye i don’t no if he has it or not. Maybe that’s the problem exactly, someone may have just removed the whole unit.
if someone removed the hole unit how would the car pass saftey with no working lights and what not. i think its the certin person that is helping you that may be the problem. I have an idea, take it to a shop, support local businesses and get your problem fixed seeing how you still have no clue what to do after all thies knolwedgable people (minues 1 person^) have drawn you a pretty picture of what to do with crayons even and still cant figure it out.
Thank you Coop… honestly Jesse and Randy if it was removed none of these things would have worked from the start and I have PERSONALLY worked on this car and I know for a fact last October this car had NO problems. If you weren’t so cheap I’d say take it to a reputable shop such as Riworx or SG. But you will pay for diagnostic, parts and install… which on something this simple isn’t worth it. If you can’t fix this thing yourself just stop driving S chassis. I offered to help but you didn’t heed it. This is what pisses me off about certain people I have had this problem on 2 cars and I know the S chassis almost inside out yet people my age still do not listen to me when I try to help. If it’s not solved in 3 days I will give you a STEP by STEP guide WITH pictures on how to do this.

The previous owner took the car to Nissan everytime he had a problem besides before he sold it to me, which was the previous fuel pump…
The lights had 3 switches, and Ted came and took all the wires out when he came and looked at my car…

The 3 piece rear aero, which we ripped off before the sale, the spoiler, the SR20 with the HKS mushroom filter, FMIC, the purple racing seat with harness bar and sabelt harness. when it was all ONE RESPECTABLE colour, it even had a damn electronic boost controller and turbo timer. And just so you know, Kenji and I put a OEM Nissan 240sx filter in it, it was NOT done by Nissan, it was done by Kenji and I in his driveway. I can tell you exactly how the OLD FILTER was before you upgraded to a Walbro and how we did it, because if Kenji and I did not change it the car would not start before you bought it. And as for putting me in my place, who the hell are you to rip on my for having “6” 240s. You think because you have a 180sx you’re better than me? I’m sorry I don’t come from a rich family and I’m sorry that I work a job that doesn’t garuntee me $1000 every 2 weeks. And actually yes I do know what turbo trim is, it’s the size of the inducer(sqaured)/exducer(squared) multiplied by 100. The higher the trim of the turbo the higher and better it flows.
The purpose of a BOV (blow off valve) is to let compressed air escape when the throttle is closed or when maximum preset boost pressure is reached. This in turn prevents the compressed air from going back into the turbo which is called compressor surge.
But no I don’t know anything… out of you two, I’m the only guy who is taking my apprenticeship right now and going to school to expand my knowledge and eventually make a life on working on vehicles. But I don’t know anything. Now if you give me a few hours I’ll pull up the 180sx FSM and I’ll find it for you. If it is not the TCU then something is wrong with either your fusebox or your wiring. Try to locate a 180sx wiring guide and fusebox then try and swap that over, that is your best friend. If you can get your hands on the FSM use that to troubleshoot the problem.
so i just read the op. you have a short to ground, chase your ground wires, and fix any electrical fuck ups you and krystalfx have done, and more then likly it will be fine
Yeah that could be a problem too, I said the TCU because that screwed everything on my car, the exact same problems hes having.
No wiring has been tampered with besides the stereo…
But all has been checked and fixed so no metal is exposed.
Underneath the steering wheel, the trim above the kick panel on MY drivers side, there was one wire, could of been a ground, was cut and when I undid the screw it came off, im going to go look at it again and see if that could be my problem.

#1) the stereo has an illumination wire going to it that, if improperly fucked with, WILL short all your running lights
but that doesnt account for the popups not working. could be two coincidental problems. or it could, you know, actually be the TCU. check your wipers: does the speed of the intermittent setting change when you rotate the intermittent knob?
#2) for the millionth time you dont need a RHD sticker if you have working turn signals. carry a printout of the HTA section with you if you can’t explain it to the cop.
