New Mazdaspeed 6 (concept) to unveil at Tokyo Auto Salon

No word yet on technical specs, and no official sign-off (yet) on possible build date. But they are unveiling this January 11th.

It will be interesting to see what the specs are if they go through with production.

i hope the specs are good. b/c those tail lights suck.

looks like an IS to me :gotme:

i think it has potential, but definitely isnt going to look like that off the showroom floor(obviously).

did they raid the toyota parts bin to build that car?

It will probably be a performance dissapointment when it gets to the showroom like the current model.

exactly what i was thinking

Not bad looking, but I’d rather have a LEgacy 2.5GT

that body kit is just absolutly terrible. the rear of the car is so ugly, tailights are too high, leaving a gapping hole in the body. the rear bumper just looks like shit, i mean, itlooks like they tried to put too much into this car instead of having a clean look.

This isn’t a Mazdaspeed6. Mazda has said over and over that they won’t make another Mazdaspeed6. Even then, that isn’t even the North American Mazda6, Mazda has said that the new Atenza won’t be sold here because Americans want the car to “look bigger”.

This is just a new Mazdaspeed A-spec aero treatment on the new Atenza.

I love everything aside from the friggin fender vents. What are they trying to do, make it look like some GM/Ford?? :’(

Personally I’d rather the Demio with the same treatment… but I still want to behead whoever thought fender vents were the answer to some performance need :stuck_out_tongue:

sadly we’ll only see this new demio (Mazda2 in europe) chassis in the form of a Ford (doesn’t directly share any body panels).

Here’s a link to all the pics, they did the Axela MPS (Mazdaspeed3) and Roadster (MX-5) as well: http://www.mazda-madness.nl/nieuws/162.htm

Basically think of this as Mazdaspeed just showing off their new design language for their mod parts.

Oh and the DAMD Mazda Atenza, can’t forget that mmmm

i think it has a lot of potential…whether or not Mazda makes it happen is the real story

More like whether or not the Mazdaspeed parts will be attainable in the states. They’ve gotten much better about it with the recent models, but just the ‘blah’ Mazdaspeed parts like an intake, springs, and a catback. They don’t offer the Mazdaspeed coilovers, braces, and aero pieces in the states :frowning:

I think it looks pretty cool.

i really like the look. wonder what the performance will be like…

The same or worse than the base model? It’s just suspension, aero, and interior bits from the reports I’ve read. This isn’t a model, much like the Mazdaspeed RX-8 isn’t a model but you can get a full aero kit, wheels, suspension, exhaust, etc.

I think Mazda really confused people by buying Mazdaspeed and integrating it with production models. For example, the Mazdaspeed6, 3, MX-5, and Protege didn’t really come with any Mazdaspeed parts on them. Just a label on a performance variant. Hell on the Protege it was full Racing Beat suspension tuning and a Callaway/Garrett turbo kit. On the newer Mazdaspeed cars it’s all just Mazda parts, made with input from Mazdaspeed but all of course designed to be totally streetable daily driver stuff.

Real Mazdaspeed parts are a rarity and are just performance. I’ll go out on a limb and say the aero bits in those pics are mostly functional (obviously not the fender vents god I hate those).

I love the front/rear splitters and the sideskirts, and especially how the same design does look good on so many models. Without them, the new Atenza looks a bit ‘soft’.

i love that black one

+1 nice and clean. Just some wheels and very slight lips and it already looks sorta VIP-style.

there is no such thing as a hawt 4 door hatch back… never was, never will be.

make it a true wagon (RS6, BMW Touring) or make it a coupe… fukk everything else.

they look stupid and will stylistically obsolesce soo friggin quickly it just makes no sense to buy one.

the mazdaspeed6 was a failure.

they wont produce one again UNLESS they have some spectacular design/performance alterations.
