Anyone use these apps to calculate acceleration numbers? I have something called ‘fastest droid’ on my phone where it can measure 0-60, 1/4 mile, and top speed based on (I’m assuming) GPS signals. Basically turn it on with car at a dead stop, and when ready drop the hammer. After 60mph it displays your result. I’ve yet to do a 1/4 mile run.
My mid 12 second Mustang knocked down a best so far 0-60 of 3.955. Would be curious to see how accurate these are…hoping someone has been to the 1/4 mile track to compare their time slip to the app reading:tup:
mke used one with his eclipse originally and it was pretty accurate on 0-60-1/4-hp ratings. It really comes down to the configuration and the placement of the phone\ipod touch. You may have to do some searching about the specific software and what position gives best results.
Obviously this isn’t super accurate but the error ratio is forgivable for a cool “hey look how much hp my car makes”. I believe the software he used was like +/- 10 hp but the 0-60 and 1/4 were accurate.
Its based off accelerometer data, and is generally fairly accurate… Theres a thread or two on here regarding these apps, usually on the iOS platform. I know a few people were talking about ‘dynolicious’ when it came out.
