Recently moved to Brooklyn for work and no longer need a car. In fact, it’s absolutely miserable owning a car in the neighborhood I’m in. Constant traffic jams and 45 min of driving around to find a parking spot. The subway is the only way to go here. Not to mention my rent tripled since Buffalo!
I’ve got ALL service records since this was purchased new. It’s been serviced at the dealer in Rochester where it was originally owned then Athol Motors has serviced it since I bought it. They’re a great Euro/German shop, they know the car intimately and will vouch for it. It’s in fantastic shape mechanically and has been very reliable. Anyone who knows A4s knows that they don’t respond well to neglect, so I’ve babied this thing and it’s been great. I only bought it myself because it came with all the service records. I don’t have the records or window sticker in front of me since I’m in NYC at the moment, but I’ll try to be as accurate as possible…
'01 with ~148K as of this writing.
5 speed
Quattro
Silver with black leather
It’s got the Winter Package:
Heated seats
Heated mirrors
Heated windshield squirt nozzles
Sport Package:
Apparently this is a somewhat rare package. From what I understand, in the B5 series A4s, only the '01 was available with the 170hp 1.8T, and only if it was ordered with the sport package.
A cool little red flag next to the 1.8T badge (signifying its rareness!!)
20 more HP via a K03s(sport) turbo and VVT(so I’ve been told)
Audi Sport steering wheel
Bilstein Red shocks and lower springs with higher spring rate
16" wheels
Premium Package:
HID headlights
Fog lights
Sunroof
Auto dimming rear & side mirrors
-Car is currently sitting on 4 new Firestone Winterforce tires on 16" steelies.
-Just had it inspected in October '11.
-New front suspension(FCP Groton complete kit)
-4 new discs and ceramic pads(can’t remember which brand dammit) and new front calipers
-Timing belt last done at maybe 110-120K(originally at 80K I want to say… I was having the cam chain tensioner replaced so Athol went and did both while they were in there)
Mods/upgrades:
-speedtuning K04 software(speedtuning suggested that this get K04 software due to this being an '01 with K03s turbo) It’s sweet. I went directly to his shop to have it done since I was in the D.C. area at the time.
-OEM 710n diverter valve
-Podi steering column pod with boost gauge
-APR snub mount
-OEM S4 tie rod ends
-K&N drop in filter
-Sylvania SilverStar halogens for the fogs (there’s a lot of headlight between these and the HIDs!)
Bad:
-Was rear ended by a van in a traffic jam, not badly, I have pics of it that I’ll find. It needed a rear bumper, one taillight and trunk lid. Cost about $2k to repair iirc. No frame damage or anything like that. No damage to either quarter panel.
-Was backed in to in a parking lot. Dented the hood about the size of a baseball and cracked the grille. Very minor. The hood was repaired and grille replaced.
-Has a quarter sized door ding in the pass. rear door. Always bugged the shit outta me.
-Few small scratches and dings here and there as expected with an '01.
-Could possibly need a new drivers front ABS sensor. I kinda screwed it up when I did the brakes. I pushed it in too far and it touched the damn decoder. Every once in a great while I feel a false ABS trip in the brake pedal.
-Tear in the driver’s seat
This has been the perfect Buffalo car. It’s fun to drive in the summer, it handles great. It’s also hands down the best car I’ve had for inclement weather. It goes through anything when the snows are on. Since the tune, the turbo is soooo much stronger and it’s actually audible now. MPG is still great somehow. I put a ton of miles on it, I travel a lot. I’d keep it for a couple more years if I could but it’s just getting too expensive(parking tickets) and tedious to keep a car here.
I’m going to be home in Buffalo next week, the week of the 14th. Not sure which day but if anyone wants to see it, we can make arrangements as the time gets closer. I’m just giving a heads up right now in case anyone needs to secure funding! I seriously encourage anyone to check with Keith at Athol Motors about the car’s history/condition or Oliver at speedtuning about the software installed. Please PM me and I’ll be happy to give you my name/number/info. I can’t really take too many calls right now as I’m working 12hrs/7days so it’s best to PM me.
Looking for KBB value. Just came up with ~$4800. No clue if it’s worth more or less.
I’ll get more pics asap.
