07 WRX TR 18g build thread

hater, i think ur gunna be very pleased with the response of the 18g especially with the alchy. after seeing justins numbers im saying 340/380 on alchy and 310/330 on 93

so when are we going to see this bad boy out and about

Well I got a late start on it today but have been working on it for about two hours now and have everything off it that needs to be now(headers, manifold/TGV’s, turbo, uppipe and transmission). I’m going to do the transmission setup first and get that back in and then proceed to finish the TGV/Meth/intake work and install the new header system with EWG and 18G. I’m going to flow port this setup like I did to Justins and make sure this system gets good fuel atomization past the injectors after deleting the TGV divider. I’ve also got to machine a custom bung to mount the Meth nozzle into his ARC charge piping at the proper location and angle. Gonna do that later today. I should have it up and running Weds into Thurs pending no issues so that Friday I can sort out any BS that I see under the hood(dangling hoses/wires, unprotected harness from DP heat, etc, etc) No big issues so far so I’m a notch up against Justins build already :slight_smile:

yes… you said ur running alchy daily but for some reason i think seth is going to get the car running PROPERLY on just fuel before he throws alcohol into the mixture… think before you speak sometimes.

why would someone spend all day tuning a car on pump only to have to change afr’s and timing tables a second time to accomodate how the vehicle is driven daily? Oh yeah…they WOULDN’T!

Seth already has the car running properly, mapping for the 18g is easy on this car. It’s not a damn FP for crists sake. The car will ONLY run on injection(no separate pump/injection maps) the car will be tuned on njection from the get go. It’s not a fucking progressive or sequential system here. Punch in the variables and it does the work for you.

Take you’re own advise, STFU, think before you speak and know what the hell you’re talking about.

for MY own peace of mind if it were MY car i would have a 93 pump map for safety no matter fucking what. yes im 100% aware the car will be on alchy. its not my car… im not the tuner. just saying what I would request.

hold the fone here… ive said NUMEROUS times that the motor puking wasnt your fault. adam, ive had alot of respect for you and your abilities over the years but sometimes you come off like a true asshole. this being one of them.

How would having a separate tune for pump give you “piece of mind”? The ECU isn’t going to automatically know when your alky tank runs dry and make a cool robot voice “switching to 93 octane map”. No, it doesn’t happen that way. The car is tuned ONCE (note, once…one time) for how it’s going to be driven ALL THE TIME (i.e. on alky, in this case) so there is no need to tune and retune to do the same work twice. It makes ZERO sense at ALL. The alky injection is based on IDC’s, boost, and TPS. If you’re worried your tank is low…guess what? YOU’RE IN CHARGE. The alky is very right foot dependant and as long as you aren’t a COMPLETE ass hat you should NEVER have a problem. There is no separate tune for “piece of mind” there is just ZERO reason. Nobody is going to say hey, know what I want to do today? Pull over, yank the fuse for my alky system, plug in my tactrix, turn on my laptop, and flash my base 93 pump map on my car. Yeah, not happening. Sometimes I have to wonder where you come up with your ridiculous statements. I think you just like to be argumentative and can’t think of anything better to do than make yourself look like a completely useless and utterly foolish person who’s supposed to be somewhat knowledgeable about vehicles. This thread is just getting embarassing.

:thumb Bingo, thank you. It’s the one reason why Jon has such a large ass tank in his trunk right now… so he doesn’t have to worry about running low on fluid too quick, thus no worry about ever having to limp it home off boost because he forgot to fill it up.

I’m going to go back to working on this car that the thread was initially started for. Maybe I’ll post more progress here, maybe not. Thread has been contaminated.

To be completely honest what Travis is saying makes SOME degree of sense, I mean what happens if for WHATEVER reason you’re in the middle of nowhere getting chased by Africanized Honey bees that do 150mph so you must achieve a speed of 150 or greater simply to out run the bees?

It’d take 15 minutes to pull over, put the car into test mode, connect the tactrix cable, re-flash the pump map on the car, take the car out of test mode, adn restart it. Nice try :stfu
