Trying to locate a 48mm or 1-15/16" size inch drive socket to finish this damn pinion shaft in the tranny. Jon’s tranny broke my fawking socket and it’s not something you can just go pick up at a local Sears or Napa :ponder Nut goes on at 191 ftlbs, not someting I can just “wing” with a wrench.

Holy crap. Jon’s nuts > your socket :banana This is where Sears Hardware used to be very helpful :headbang

The bastard of a nut that broke my $70 socket. I’ll get it replaced when the Snap-on guy arrives. Thanks Schalmont HS bus garage fro having a backup to borrow Jon :wink:

The carnage that insued from 17.8 Imperial tons of pressure on a bearing. Remnants of the main pinion bearing. After blowing apart and getting an inspection it’s apparent the inner races were galled(friction welded) to the main carrier pinion shaft. Probably from the load put on this tranny from the power going through it. Weird. I’m going to magnaflux the stock gears and mainshaft when all done to see if they’re stressed/factured before Jon tries to resell them to recoup costs. The explosion of metal went off like a frag grenade and broke one pane of glass in my second garage. Yay! Pane of glass, $10. New pinion bearing, $178. Seeing Adam tuck and flee for cover behind tire balancer, priceless :haha

New bearing here tomorrow. Work will resume then.

Holy crap at the bearing just exploding. That’s ridiculous. I might swing over tomorrow and say hi as I have the day off. You going to be around?

Transmission setup, assembled, and back in the car as of 2pm today. Turbine housing volute CNC ported today too, to match that holy-hell of a big uppipe opening. Perrin header a bastard and requires some big changes to the oil cooler. Might not make the Sat Tune date and may be taking this up to Moon myself on Weds of next week for the tune. At least it gives me time to break those gears in before handing it back to Jon for a good beating ;D

Good thing you can still see it under the car then. That and so you can see this pretty piece. Awefully complicated dump tube for such a car but the morons who designed the up pipe put the EWG discharge over ~30% of the passenger side half-shaft CV/axle so I had to pie piece and swage a dump tube to fit and clear the axle under suspension compression. Nothing like putting 2 hours into a friggin dump tube.

after several set backs… The car will b getting tuned on Wed. Woo hoo!
