Trying to pick one of these up for under $200 - will be mainly used for R&R’ing lug nuts, suspension hardware, etc. Anyone have any recommendations?
I picked up a 1/2 in ridgid really cheap Black Friday bc it fit all other batteries. Works good for lugs and some suspension stuff. Used it today to torque off lug kits, and u bolts. The vibration sometimes unlocks the battery and you have to pop it back on. For the price I’m happy. But I know there are way better options for more cash. Nothing beats Air though.
if you dont mind going used you can score one of the milwaukee 18v cordless impacts. Great quality tool and has good power
I snagged a Goodyear from Pep Boys a couple years back on Black Friday and have been very happy with its use. I mainly use it for lug nuts but it has also served me well when I have done springs/struts and swaybar links.
edit- If you want to try mine out just shoot me a PM. A co-worker of mine is currently borrowing it but I should be able to get it back any time.
It’s not quite 200 or anywhere near that but the snap on 850 cordless impact is stupid powerful, traded both my snap on air guns in on it. Might find one used somewhere for little more than your looking to spend but may be worth it.
I know there is a snap on cordless on Craigslist right now for $500. Unsure of the model.

i have dewalt dw059, they are about $150-200. i have used on cars, suv, and trucks and i have yet to find a wheel that i can’t take off.
The Snap On is overkill for somebody looking to spend no more than $200. Are you currently on any tool platform? If you have a Makita or Dewalt 20v tool already (battery) then I would spend
$230 on a dewalt
$234 on a Makita
or if you are on neither of those platforms, this Dewalt comes with battery and is compact for $217
It’s not as powerful as the other two but all of these will be ok for what you seek, with the first 2 more than enough.
As mentioned, the dewalt dw059 would work too but that combined with the battery is IMO not worth it, it’s about time to ditch the 18v platform. I’ve used that gun for taking off axles, wheels and leaf springs that come in on the mobile homes we install but the battery life is nothing to write home about.
I have a rigid 1/2 drive and it’s been great. Plenty of power. For the home I bought the rest of the kit with the circular saw, light, recip saw, drill and mini impact.
Whats funny is I have had really good luck with the harbor freight one
I didn’t want it to last 4 years but its been working out great.
Is that the corded one? I was not happy with the corded one a few years back, but don’t recall seeing an electric cordless model at HF.
Really good luck with my craftsman 18v
Cordless it was cheap and has been working really well
Interesting, I will have to look into that. I tend to stay away from Harbor Freight’s power tools…
I’m pulling lugnuts off with my Milwaukee 3/8 cordless. I’ll upgrade to a 1/2 Eventually. There is a tool dealer out of new Jersey on face book that always has good deals. I picked up my 3/8 cordless impact, impact driver, cordless light, 2 18v batteries and charger for 350 shipped to the door.
What’s his fb name. Always on the hunt for bargains
A craftsman 19.2V impact. hands down. bought the non lithium ion version like 6 years ago…and it still works but the trigger was finicky so i upgraded to the new one. buzzes most lug nuts off even if i put them on with my snap on air impact. cant beat it for the money
I have a ridgid 18v, bought it almost 3 year ago. Works good for average garage use. Also have 1/4" ridgid that I use on almost everything I work on.
I swear I replied to this yesterday. Sorry.
