Just read that the NFL fined patriots reciever wes welker ten grand for his snow angel td celebration sunday. Anyone else find that really pathetic?
meh pro athletes are over paid. he can afford it
wtf? why would they do that?
New policy of excessive celebration…
I personally find the policy stupid.
The field is covered with snow, there was no opposing players around, and it was non-violent ( i.e. no thrown balls, now taunting, etc. ). Fine is excessive.
really? c’mon.
He knew the rules…
Whether or not we or anyone agrees with it is irrelevant. He knowingly did it and I’m sure he isn’t surprised.
I think it was ridiculous that he got the same fine as the player that threw a boulder of snow at a fan.
Yeah, and the team got penalized 15 yards on the ensuing kick off.
Id delete almost 80% of the players in the nfl, watching junior football or that involves no $$$ is better then that crap. They are overpaid for nothing.
I thought it was hysterical, also looked a little gross for a minute.
Yeah because those juniors you watch have about 1/10000000th of the ability the pros do. Wes Welker is a stellar receiver who is extremely respectable who was clearly having some fun. He doesn’t care about the fine. It was all in fun. Go Pats!! Hopefully they knock some Buffalo ass around on Sunday!!!
Haha he stubbed his toe, went down in agony. I love the commentators.
Wes probably isn’t losing any sleep over it…
Wes Welker is a classy guy too I thought…
Meh… I think the players association should ban together and ask for this rule to be hacked. Nothing pumps up a home crowd like a cool celebration as long as it does not delay the game or inflict any damage on anyone/anything.
Meh, I think classy guy is a relative term. I remember when they came back to take the lead on the Colts in the regular season game last year and then he made the first down catch to let them run out the clock, he gets up and gets right in the defender’s face and screams, YOU FUCKING SUCK!!! They showed it on the TV broadcast and cut away quickly, i was laughing my ass off.
EDIT: it was louder on the regular broadcast, but 0:45
sportscenter on Monday is my new favorite thing… the scroller thing at the bottom will usually tell you about the hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines players received for various penalties throughout Sunday’s games
